NOW READ: Is Sons of the Forest a sequel?

The developers had a similar strategy for their previous 2014 installment called The Forest. During that time, they had initially released their creation on PCs only, but they eventually launched it on the PlayStation 4 after a few months. Critical and public reception was largely positive on both systems for Endnight Games’ first entry, and the same is expected of its sequel if it ever receives multiplatform availability.

Keep in mind though, that the early access period will apparently last for at least six months, so their plans for releasing it on other systems could still be far-off. The developers have stated that they plan on adding a plethora of new features to the game so porting it to consoles may still be far from their mind. For now, those looking to enjoy the game immediately will have to purchase it on Steam as this is the only platform that it will be available on at the time of writing.
