The latest Helldivers 2 Major Order called for the extermination of 750 million Terminids, along with 5 million Bile Titans, the toughest enemies in the game. Despite this monstrous task, the community completed it without much issue, and it has made an impact on the Gloom which has been slowly taking over the Terminid Sectors.

Following the completion of the latest Major Order, Super Earth congratulated the Helldivers 2 community, informing us that the “growth of the Gloom seems to have slowed” saying,

“The Helldivers have successfully exterminated massive swaths of Terminids, including the largest tyrants amongst them, and prevented the spread of the insects to new planets. This inspiring exercise of liberation sends a clear message to our enemies. A message so loud, and so clear, that it needs no explicit articulation.

The growth of the Gloom seems to have slowed. Clearly, the Helldiver show of Freedom was highly effective, intimidating the mindless insects into ceasing the spread of their malevolent, impenetrable cloud.

The Helldivers have once again inspired pride in our citizenry, who report high levels of defiance against the bugs’ cloud-based attempts to terrorize them. The secrets of the Gloom will be revealed to us in time. And even if they are not, we will still destroy it.”

Collectively, the Helldivers 2 community defeated 750 million Terminids, with multiple days to spare, as well as 5 million Bile Titans with just under one day to spare. This means that we realistically took down over 1 billion Terminids during the six-day Major Order, which begs the question, how did we fail the last eradication event?

Earlier this month, Helldivers 2 players were tasked with taking down 1.5 billion enemies across both factions. If they failed, the community would be granted the Anti-Tank Mines after having spent numerous months avoiding receiving them. In the end, players were only able to kill 700,000 enemies, despite it counting for both factions, whereas with the player base split, the community still killed more Terminids in this most recent Major Order. Did the community really fail, or did Arrowhead use this as a way to add the Anti-Tank Mines which no one uses?

With the Gloom now weakened, hopefully, players will be able to see better while fighting the Terminids, as the yellow spores really made some missions frustrating. It will also be interesting to see which faction we focus on next, especially as the latest update should be landing this week, which is said to be focused on buffs according to the Helldivers 2 Community Manager. This is great news as the weapon nerfs such as the Breaker Incendiary Shotgun have caused a lot of backlash from the community. If you’re one of the players whose loadout has been decimated by nerfs, I highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide.
