The Illuminate are undoubtedly the most anticipated addition set to arrive in Helldivers 2. Players have waited all year for them to invade, and we still don’t when they are going to rear their heads through a portal and make their presence known. The anticipation continues to grow every day, and a Helldivers 2 leak has revealed their terrifying voices and growls.
We still have no idea when the Illuminate are going to invade, but it’s as inevitable as the Reapers invading Earth in Mass Effect. Dataminers have found evidence of portals, leaks have shown objectives for when they join the battlefield, and Arrowhead has trollled players in wake of Illuminate files added to Steam.
Pretty much everything we know about the Iilluminate for Helldivers 2 stems from leaks, and newly datamined content allows us to hear the faction before they invade.

Prominent Helldivers 2 leaker, Iron_S1ghts, has shared datamined sounds and voices of the Illuminate on X. The sounds consist of unintelligible sounds along with voice lines such as “incredible,” “find out,” and “extraordinary”.
In the comments, some have said it “sounds like ADVENT aliens from XCOM,” meanwhile, others have said it “feels like a mix of sounds [from] Alien, Starcraft’s Protoss, Half Life’s Combine, and Halo enemies”.
Regardless of who they sound comparable to, there’s no doubt the voices are rather unsettling. Still, despite more details about the Illuminate surfacing every other day, we still don’t know exactly when they are set to join Helldivers 2.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait too much longer, but there are other additions for fans to anticipate. A leak has revealed details about a new dark eclipse event that sounds pretty scary, meanwhile, Arrowhead has confirmed they are adding vehicles.
