Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 is an almost constant source of leaks as dataminers hunt for hints of upcoming content. After the developers included direct references to the arrival of The Illuminate in a Steam depot update, the team’s latest files appear to be trolling players.
Arrowhead teases Helldivers leakers
Following the studio’s silly Illuminate leak, Arrowhead’s latest update to SteamDB is decidedly less direct. With SteamDB being a public repository for file additions and changes to current and upcoming games, many fans have picked thourgh Helldivers 2 on the service to find any new information on the game.
With this latest update, Arrowhead is seemingly taunting players looking for easy hints of upcoming content. While the last update directly referenced the long-awaited third enemy faction, these latest changes include file names like “use_this_to_go_live” and “pineapple_soup_is_delicious”.
As every SteamDB update is poured over by fans, Arrowhead appears to be having a fun jab at the HD2 community with this latest change. After all, nobody expects pineapple soup to be added to the game. It would be one vile stratagem, that’s for sure.
Of course, this hasn’t stopped dataminers from finding unannounced content that may be coming to the game. Following leaks of Illuminate mission objectives and terrifying new Automaton enemy types, one leaker discovered Super Earth mission maps that sadly don’t include any of the previously-leaked urban environment assets.
With 15 million players diving in to defend the democracy of Super Earth against the free-thinking Terminids, Automatons and everything else, Helldivers 2 is set to have a long future ahead of it. Following the years of support for the much less popular original, Arrowhead is likely going to continue adding to the sequel for years.
