The arrival of The Illuminate enemy faction has been hotly anticipated since the launch of Helldivers 2. While constant leaks have revealed in-development Illuminate mission objectives, alongside official Arrowhead updates mentioning the new foes, there’s still no official date for their arrival in the game.
However, prolific dataminer IronS1fghts has shared new information that teases how the Illuminate will make their way into the game. After being eliminated by Super Earth in-universe, the surviving forces have seemingly developed a new portal to bring them directly to the human homeworld.
Helldivers 2 Stargate Nexus
Shared on Twitter, files within Helldivers 2 refer to something known as the “Illuminate Stargate Nexus”. This object is described as being a new device developed by the alien group that allows them to “teleport closer to Super Earth”.
A one-way portal, the Stargate Nexus is located on the Illuminate homeworld and allows them to quickly jump to Super Earth colonies without threat. Following leaks of Super Earth locations allowing players to fight across wheat fields and other rural areas, this could tie into the arrival of the new enemies.
IronS1ghts explains that the Stargate Nexus may be scrapped as references to the portal are very sparse. However, “the overall concept can still be seen in subtitle files”, the dataminer reveals.
Whatever the case, the new Illuminate enemy types will certainly arrive sometime in the future. With the Democracy Space Station storyline coming to an end, the multiplayer title is expected to bring something huge to players in the coming months. Fingers crossed we’ll be battling physic aliens and interrupting their rituals sometime soon!
