Helldivers 2 has recently received an influx of buffs that have made the community very happy. The most recent major update was a huge success in bringing fans back to HD2 in droves, and the game is in a fantastic state right now. Another patch has already been teased, and many in the Helldivers 2 community want Arrowhead to buff a weapon that has just received a “very bad” nerf.
In regard to the future of HD2, Arrowhead has confirmed buffs are on the way for the purifier and jump pack. There is also a new Major Order ongoing right now, and it could lead to the arrival of a massive feature fans have wanted since day one. In addition, Arrowhead has teased they might already be working on delivering a harder difficulty setting following complaints the game has become too easy.
While all of the above is exciting stuff to anticipate, there will be more buffs than just the jump pack and purifier come the next patch. Nothing else has been revealed yet, but fans do want to see an improvement to the HMG following its recent nerf.
Helldivers 2 fans want Arrowhead to buff HMG
Arrowhead recently revealed that the HMG received a nerf in update 01.001.100. It wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes leading to accusations of a “stealth nerf,” but it was simply not mentioned through human error.
The nerf the HMG received in Helldivers 2 is a decrease of angle and durable damage from 50 to 35. This was an intentional change, it just accidentally wasn’t included in the patch notes as shared by community manager, Twinbeard, on the official Helldivers subreddit.
Reacting to the nerf admission, many fans have called for the HMG to be buffed or to have its nerf reverted. Following the revelation of the nerf, there were replies such as, “I was wondering why the HMG felt so useless against the underside of a Factory Strider”.
There also many comments echoing the sentiment that it is a “very bad nerf” and that it “definitely did not need that nerf”. While there a lot of calls to simply revert the durable damage nerf, there are many comments which say the nerf will be bearable if Arrowhead buff the magazine size for ammo.
On Discord, Twinbeard was asked if Arrowhead are planning to buff the magazine size for the HMG. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees, but the community manager did respond: “Not my call, but I can say that so far, the HMG is probably the one thing I’ve seen the most ppl ask about in the patch update I posted yesterday. Will convey it to my colleaggues!”.
