Rockstar Games has decided to release its highly anticipated GTA 6 announcement trailer a day earlier than expected after the clip was recently leaked through X (formerly Twitter). In addition to giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming gameâs two main protagonists, it also gave the community a look at the sixth mainline installmentâs launch window, currently slated for 2025, barring any unforeseen setbacks.
Though the GTA 6 release date is still excruciatingly far off, thereâs still plenty to digest with the surprise trailer drop, which youâll be able to check out below. Rockstar Games will likely provide more details closer to its launch, such as confirmation on its PS4 and Xbox One compatibility, though youâre in for a slightly long wait with the game only set to release after two years.
As many had previously predicted, the gameâs setting will take place in the ever-popular metropolis of Vice City, Tommy Vercettiâs former playground, albeit with a modern twist. Several scenes showcased throughout the short clip also gave viewers a look at many eccentric characters youâll meet at certain points in your chaotic story, including several social media influencers and a dual-hammer-wielding grandma.
Of course, the most important aspect of the GTA 6 announcement trailer was the revelation of the two central playersâ identities. Despite specific details on their origin stories remaining scarce, a brief soundbite at the beginning of the video revealed the female lead characterâs name as Lucia, the first female protagonist in the seriesâ history. Unfortunately, the development team has yet to announce the male protagonistâs name, so youâll have to stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
