With many of today’s AAA games being made for current-gen platforms, we wouldn’t blame you for asking: Is GTA 6 a PS5 exclusive? If you’re worried about the latest Rockstar Games entry’s dedicated availability to the Sony gaming console, worry not because we’ll cover all you need to know here before its launch.

Of course, the developers have yet to confirm the game’s availability on certain consoles. But now that the GTA 6 trailer release date is practically here, you won’t have to wait long to find out what systems you’ll be able to play it on. That said, here’s what you need to know about GTA 6’s exclusivity on the PlayStation 5.

Will GTA 6 be a PS5 exclusive?

No, we don’t expect GTA 6 to be a PS5 exclusive. Instead, it will likely be available on multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the PC. Though Rockstar Games hasn’t revealed its availability on certain consoles as of writing, nearly all of the past series entries (apart from the very first one) have been available on multiple systems, and we don’t expect that to change moving forward.

Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series has consistently been one of the most-played and best-selling titles throughout history, partly due to its accessibility on different gaming platforms. Entering into an exclusivity deal with one platform now would jeopardize the consistent performance and sales that each modern entry has boasted so far, so a dedicated PlayStation or Xbox release likely won’t be in the cards soon.

But, as always, the devs are yet to confirm this information, so you’ll need to take it with the customary grain of salt. While you wait for more details, take a look at our pages on the GTA 6 PS4 and Xbox One compatibility, the GTA 6 release date, and the GTA 6 crossplay and cross-platform functionality.
