The v29.40 Fortnite update will be the last major patch of Chapter 5 Season 2. With the season ending in four weeks, Epic Games will slowly shift its focus to the next one. Fortunately, the upcoming update will add a lot of new content, from a new event to new skins. This content will slowly introduce us to the next season and will serve as a conclusion for the current one.

In this article, we will list all the early patch notes. These come from either Epic or from reputable leakers with a good track record. The release time of the update hasn’t been revealed yet. However, it will most likely come out on Friday at 4 AM Eastern Time.

The next Fortnite update will bring a new event

The v29.40 Fortnite update will bring another Star Wars collaboration. The collab will bring new skins and items, but also a new event. Unlike live events, this one will last for at least two weeks, and during this period, Fortnite will have a different loot pool, map changes, and more. Here are all the Fortnite Battle Royale changes that we expect with the next update:

  • Conclusion of the Avatar event
  • The Avatar event pass will no longer be available
    • Both paid and free rewards from the pass will no longer be obtainable
  • New Star Wars collaboration
    • Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca skins
    • Lightsabers
    • Map changes
    • Possible new NPCs
    • Wookie’s Bowcaster Weapon
    • Return of E-11 Blasters
  • New skins and other cosmetics
    • Another Billie Eilish skin should also come with the update
  • New Star Wars quests with free rewards
  • Possible live event files

With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 starting on May 24, Epic may release some hints about it with the next update. Considering that the v29.40 update will be the last update of Season 2, this is a perfect opportunity to add both hints for the next season and live event files. However, since the live event hasn’t been leaked or confirmed yet, we may not get it until the end of the chapter.

Interestingly, lightsabers are coming to LEGO Fortnite. You will be able to craft them at a new station and use them to take enemies down. Furthermore, the first-ever LEGO Fortnite Battle Pass is coming out, and it will contain both free and premium rewards. Here is all the other content that will come to this game mode:

  • Rebel Village that can be upgraded to Level 10
  • New items
    • Microbinoculars, Lightsabers, Bowcaster, and more
  • Rebel Workbench
  • New Star Wars-themed buildings and decorations
  • Many new LEGO Fortnite skin styles, including Darth Vader and Mandalorian
  • Major gameplay improvements and bug fixes

With Fortnite Festival Season 3 arriving last week, fans of the music mode got a lot of new content. However, Epic Games will add even more things to this mode with the upcoming Fortnite update. This is everything the game developer has revealed so far:

  • Cantina Band Jam Track
  • Seven-string Hallikset Guitar
    • Obtainable through exclusive Star Wars quests
  • Endorian Drum Kit
  • Nalargon Keytar

Finally, Rocket Racing will get a couple of new cosmetics. The Centio V17 car was tagged as cross-game content in Rocket League, meaning that it’ll likely come to Fortnite soon. In addition to it, fans of this mode will also get a chance to obtain a couple of Star Wars-themed cosmetics:

  • Beskar Car Body
  • Beskar (Din Djarin) Wheels
  • The Armorer Beskar Decal
  • Beskar (Armorer) Wheels
  • Boba Fett Beskar Decal
  • Beskar (Boba Fett) Wheels
  • Bo-Katan Kryze Beskar Decal
  • Beskar (Bo-Katan Kryze) Wheels
  • Sabine Wren Beskar Decal
  • Beskar (Sabine Wren) Wheels

Considering that new Star Wars quests will end on May 14, this will probably be the ending date of the collaboration as well. For more information, you can visit Epic Games’ blog post.
