It has begun. The leaks are now coming thick and fast ahead of EA Sports FC. One of the latest snippets of information comes surrounding the inclusion of women’s football in EA’s big money-spinning game mode, Ultimate Team.

While the official EA Sports FC 24 release date is yet to be revealed, leaks have suggested when the game will launch, along with several other new features. Ultimate Team is understandably the mode which harbours the most interest, and change is afoot.

News that women will be introduced into Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC is not new. In fact, a wide variety of leaks have reported this addition for several weeks. However, how the women’s game is implemented in the mode has remained unclear.

EA has included women’s football in its FIFA titles since FIFA 16. Back then it was purely women’s national teams, and they were only available in Kick-Off mode. Since then, EA has expanded on how women feature in its titles.

In FIFA 23, players can use female avatars in Pro Clubs and VOLTA, and the 2023 Women’s World Cup has its own DLC too. There are now several licensed women’s leagues in the game too, including the Barclays Women’s Super League, UEFA Women’s Champions League, and the NWSL.

EA’s growing portfolio of women’s licences including players, teams, and competitions will surely lead to their inclusion in other game modes. Career Mode seems an obvious step to make, but for now, it has been leaked that women’s players will feature in Ultimate Team.

The latest leaks regarding this subject gives further detail into how Ultimate Team will look next season. One FIFA 23 leaker with a track record for being correct, Donk, has revealed that “You can use both men and women in the same team in EAFC (FIFA 24). No separate game mode for them.”

This means that FIFA 23 cover stars Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr may actually share the field for the very first time. The addition of female players will provide a wide range of new player options, and could even see a new meta become popular.

Alongside this new information, two female Icon players have also been leaked to arrive in EA Sports FC Ultimate Team. American legend Mia Hamm and Chinese star Sun Wen are both scheduled to bolster the FC 24 Icons roster next season.
