While reviews and final impressions are purely subjective and personal, a game getting positive review scores from numerous outlets is typically a very strong indicator that the game is good and worthy of buying. Fortunately, the reviews for Dragon’s Dogma 2 are very strong and the game has continued Capcom’s hot streak from 2023 which landed them at the top of the Metacritic publisher rankings.

The release date and time countdown for when Dragon’s Dogma 2 will come out is nearly over. Ahead of its launch, Capcom has shared a list of official celebrity and YouTuber pawns that can be hired in game. Capcom has also assured fans that they are working on delivering a patch for PC that should help stabilize the FPS by ironing out issues that involve lag and stuttering.

Problems with the FPS have been acknowledged, but the game has still received very favorable scores from reviews focusing on the PC version of the game. It’s a fantastic start to the year for Capcom, and they have also been rewarded with first place on the Metacritic top publishers ranking for their games released in 2023.

Metacritic has shared their 14th annual game publisher rankings. It covers the year of 2023, and it features 46 publishers in total. The positions are dictated by lowest-to-highest average Metascores along with points.

The average Metascores are based on overall scores for individual games belonging to each publisher. And these overall scores were garnered by review scores from numerous individual and official outlets.

Capcom sits in first place for their output of work in 2023. Their average Metascore for last year was 84.5 with the Resident Evil 4 Remake their best-reviewed game with a Metascore of 93. During last year, they also released two other 90+ games in Street Fighter 6 and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and many more in the 80-89 range’.

This was an improvement from 2023 where Capcom finished sixth. Below is a list of all first-place winners from 2024 to when rankings first began in 2011. Remember that the awarded year is for the previous year’s work meaning Sony won in 2023 for their work in 2022.

Although we are only in March, Capcom has continued their hot streak of well-reviewed games. Dragon’s Dogma 2 currently sits at 90 for PC, 87 for PS5, and 86 for Xbox Series X/S. Currently, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has the highest Metacritic score of 2024 so far with 92.
