Dragon’s Dogma 2 is just hours from its official release date, marking the first new entry in the series in 12 years. Although the game hasn’t officially been released yet,  some players have already received their physical copies early. Some players have been playing over the past week by getting hold of copies early, with one streaming the game on Twitch before Capcom took down the broadcast. The game was also leaked online too with the entire plot being spoiled.

But, with the release date just one day away, some lucky gamers have received their copies early courtesy of very efficient postal services. Players have taken to Reddit to show off their copies of the game and express their excitement at finally being able to play the next entry in the Dragon’s Dogma series. Buying physical copies online can both be very rewarding and risky. With packages taking a few days to arrive, retailers must ship pre-orders before the release date.

This means that sometimes a new release may arrive at your door a day or two early so you can jump into the game before its official release date. However, it can also mean that if the package is delayed for any reason then you may be empty-handed on launch day and have to look on as your fellow gamers get to experience the new game without you.

The happy medium is buying digital as you’re guaranteed to be able to play at launch, but you will never be able to get lucky and play early. But, after 12 years of waiting for the next entry in the series, having to wait one more day to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 won’t hurt.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 officially releases on March 22, and its success with critics has helped propel Capcom to the top spot for the highest-rated publisher on Metacritic based on its game’s review scores.
