Today, Wednesday 23rd November 2022, is a special and important day for Doctor Who fans worldwide as not only is it Doctor Who Day, but, it is also the 59th anniversary of the beloved Sci-Fi series, and one year exactly until Doctor Who returns with three Specials to mark the shows 60th anniversary.

As its name implies, Doctor Who day is a special day for fans worldwide to celebrate the show they love and pay tribute to its legacy as one of the longest running popular fiction properties in the world.

With 2022 already becoming a landmark year in Doctor Who history with the announcement that Russell T. Davies would be returning as showrunner and head writer for the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations in 2023.

Followed by the announcement that rising young actor Ncuti Gatwa would be picking up the Sonic Screwdriver as the next Doctor, and then in another landmark announcement just last month that Disney+ would become the new streaming home outside the UK and Ireland for Doctor Who starting with the 60th Anniversary specials.

Then, last week it was revealed that Millie Gibson would be playing Ruby Sunday, companion to Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor for the 2023 Festive special and the 14th series of the show airing in 2024.

But, the reveals are only just beginning for this exciting next era of Doctor Who. So, join me as I list all of the exciting reveals for Doctor Who Day 2022.

Everything revealed for Doctor Who Day 2022

The day began with the reveal of the official logo for the show’s 60th anniversary that will be used throughout 2023 across multiple Doctor Who product releases:

This was then followed by the release by a brand new piece of art celebrating every on-screen incarnation of The Doctor so far (Ncuti Gatwa not pictured, as while he has been announced as The 15th Doctor, he has not been seen on-screen in the role yet):

Next was the reveal by renowned UK retailer Forbidden Planet of their exclusive range of officially licensed Doctor Who 60th Anniversary merchandise, a selection of which you can see below:

Continuing the celebration, the official Doctor Who social media channels then released this beautiful and touching video recapping the adventures through time and space of Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) and The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) ahead of Donna’s return in next year’s 60th Anniversary Specials alongside the newly regenerated Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant):

This was then followed by a short video message from Tate and Tennant in which they wished fans a “Happy Doctor Who Day” followed by footage from the 60th Anniversary Specials teaser trailer:

The next reveal then came with the official release of the first key art of The Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant), post regeneration from The Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker):

And, speaking of The Thirteenth and Fourteenth Doctors.

Toy manufacturer, Character Options, who have been producing and releasing Doctor Who action figures, vehicles, and playsets since the series’ modern return in 2005.

Released the first look at, and pre-order link, for their “The Regeneration” action figure 2 pack featuring The Thirteenth Doctor in her final costume before regenerating, alongside The Fourteenth Doctor in the new costume he regenerated into at the end of The Power of The Doctor:

In addition to the first look photographs of this action figure 2 pack, Character Options also released a behind the scenes video to their official YouTube page discussing the creation of this 2 pack:

Following this, a major announcement for the 60th Anniversary year was announced with renowned Doctor Who audio story producer, Big Finish Productions, announcing that not only would be they be releasing a special Doctor Who audio series for the 60th Anniversary.

But, it will be an eight-part full-cast audio that will feature multiple incarnations of The Doctor, voiced by the very actors who memorably brought them to life on screen. Titled, “Once and Future”, the announced cast for the audio series includes Tom Baker (The Fourth Doctor, The Curator), Peter Davison (The Fifth Doctor), Colin Baker (Commander Maxil, The Sixth Doctor), Sylvester McCoy (The Seventh Doctor), Paul McGann (The Eighth Doctor), Christopher Eccleston (The Ninth Doctor) and David Tennant (The Tenth Doctor and The Fourteenth Doctor).

With the press release for the series teasing dozens of other guest cast members to be announced for this special audio series that is set during “The Time War” and will see an injured Doctor travelling “From the Earth to the stars, across an array of familiar times and places” as he tries to unravel the mystery of what is causing him to degenerate through his past lives “before he loses himself completely…

The final reveal so far (at the time of this writing) comes from the official Doctor Who Twitter page who released the below image that is sure to be warmly welcomed by fans of The Thirteenth Doctor and especially by any fans seeking to cosplay The Thirteenth Doctor’s multi-Doctor look from the final act of The Power of The Doctor Special marking Jodie Whittaker’s final episode and the BBC’s 100th Anniversary:
