In a special holiday treat for fans worldwide, the BBC have released a brand new teaser trailer for next year’s Doctor Who Specials, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the iconic Sci-Fi series, and heralding the return of beloved modern Who showrunner, Russell T. Davies, along with two of his key stars, David Tennant, and Catherine Tate.

In other words, it’s going to be a long wait till the release of the 60th anniversary specials. But, you just know that it’s going to be a great wait. Especially as Russell T. Davies has always been, first and foremost, a Doctor Who fan, and his love of the show always shines through in everything he does.
And that love and knowledge of The Doctor’s history is on full display here too with the reveal of classic Doctor Who comic villains “Beep the Meep”, and the insectoid “Wrarth”.
In addition, although no official confirmation has been made yet. This most recent teaser trailer further alludes to Neil Patrick Harris‘ mysterious antagonist being none other than The Doctor’s ancient foe, “The Celestial Toymaker”.
One thing is for certain though, it is a very exciting time to be a Doctor Who fan, whether you are already a fan, a returning fan, or a brand new fan discovering The Doctor’s adventures for the first time.

Who is the new Doctor in 2023?
2023 is set to be a banner year for Doctor Who, as, not only is it the 60th anniversary of the show. But, it will also see, not one, but two, brand new Doctors. Beginning with the return of David Tennant as the newly regenerated Fourteenth Doctor before he regenerates into The Fifteenth Doctor, who will be played by Ncuti Gatwa.

At the time of writing, Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor, is still “The Doctor” with the most on-screen television appearances. With Baker playing The Doctor in 172 televised episodes across 7 series/seasons comprising 41 on-screen stories between 28th December 1974 and 21st March 1981.
