EA has announced that it has rebranded the former DICE LA studio as Ripple Effect Studios, with the studio working on a “player-inspired experience” for Battlefield 2042.

In the announcement, the studio said “Our ambition is to become a studio that excels at everything — not just making games but also the process of how we make them. We want to reach a super level of quality in everything we do, no matter how big or small. This philosophy applies to everything, from constantly refining our development process, to cultivating a positive company culture and growing a thriving community.”

Christian Grass will be the GM of Ripple Effect Studios, but the team will also be managed by Respawn founder Vince Zampella as the “new direction” for the studio alluded to last year. “The talent here has a great track record of producing high-quality titles,”  says Zampella. “And the studio’s set to make even more incredible games in the future.”

The first project the studio will release under the new moniker will be the new “player-inspired experience” for Battlefield 2042, which is set to be revealed during EA Play Live on July 22 later this month. Following that, the company has said it’ll also be starting work on a “yet-to-be-announced project.”

Battlefield 2042 is currently scheduled to launch on October 22 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
