While Diablo 4 has certainly attracted a large player base since its release on June 6 and has seen great success some players are frustrated at the lack of diverse ways to obtain XP outside of running dungeons. Some players have now started calling for more XP to be allocated to World Bosses, Helltides and more. Alongside this, players have started pointing to Diablo 3’s very popular addition of Rifts. These frustrations were brought to the forefront of players’ minds as one of Diablo 4’s recent hotfixes completely nerfed some of the most easily exploitable dungeons, making it harder for those who want to level up fast and farm XP.

Taking to Reddit, Diablo 4 player AudioRejectz presented an almost open letter of frustration to the Diablo 4 development team titled ‘Devs, we run dungeons to level because the XP everywhere else sucks!’ Speaking on the topic further they said, “Seriously, what are you doing? Why do think so many people keep running dungeons? It’s because XP everywhere else is bad, it’s that simple. World bosses, hell tide, NMD all need their XP buffing. It’s so frustrating having you make it increasingly more difficult to level, especially for solo players.” AudioRejectz continued, “Don’t you think groups able to enter dungeons and run all different directions to farm XP is a bigger issue? Or groups being able to farm 4 different dungeons at once and have all 4 be completed for everyone a bigger issue? I’ve no issues at all this being a mmo-light, always online experience. But if you are so adamant that you want people to group up, then add some matchmaking. Because it’s becoming harder and harder to play this solo.”

Many players certainly share AudioRejectz sentiment with regard to the difficulty of solo play and even more so when it comes to XP woes. Another user chimed in baffled at the way XP is currently being handled in Diablo 4 despite Diablo 3 introducing more popular ways to attain XP. User Recovery_Water says, “It makes no sense. D3 went through the same thing, players demanded more density, they eventually gave it in the form of rifts, and it proved hugely popular.” Some players have shared a more negative perspective on the issue with one user claiming “It makes no sense. D3 went through the same thing, players demanded more density, they eventually gave it in the form of rifts, and it proved hugely popular.”

Diablo 4’s recent hotfix is looking to standardise “the density of elite monsters that spawn in dungeons,” to ensure that “no particular dungeon is clearly more efficient to run through than others.”

This news comes as Diablo 4 players claim grinding for renown in the endgame “f***ing sucked.” On a more positive note, players are still hunting for elusive cow level despite devs denying it exists.
