Changes coming in Loot Reborn

This upcoming patch is set to bring a whole host of changes to Diablo 4. From Itemization changes to tweaks to Helltide and more crafting systems with Masterworking and Tempering gear. Suffice it to say, the loot in Diablo 4 is in the firing line when this update launches, and it sounds better as it will reduce inventory management in the menu and the quantity of loot. These changes have been part of the public test realm (ptr) in April, and now Blizzard is implementing the feedback, with patch notes soon to follow.

Diablo 4 Loot Reborn item changes

As per the blog post from Blizzard, there are going to be vast changes to how items “are earned, how they function, and how they improve”. It goes on to say: “Dropped items are now simpler to evaluate and we’ve moved their complexity and customisation to our new crafting systems, Tempering and Masterworking”. Tempering manuals will be part of this new crafting system, which you can earn through the Iron Wolves quest.

Speaking more on the loot, Blizzard has said: “We reduced the number of affixes on items (down to 3 on Legendary items, 2 on Rare items)” Further to this, you can find 5x more powerful versions of normal affixes. Better yet, any items that come with Greater Affixes now drop with an audio cue so you know it’s going to be a good drop.

Blizzard explains: “The World Tier you play in will directly affect the rarity of the items you earn. Sacred items or higher only drop in World Tier III, and only Ancestral items will appear in World Tier IV”. With the World Tier changes, all Uniques now have a chance to drop in Tier 3, while Uber Uniques will appear when you kill level 55 monsters at max Item Power Level.

Diablo 4 season 4 The Pit of Artificers

For your end-game grinders, a new dungeon called The Pit of Artificers will be introduced in Loot Reborn. Inside The Pit, you and your party of four will have to defeat several monsters and bosses within a time limit. The reward for successfully completing this will be Masterworking materials to craft armor at the blacksmith npc as you progress through its 200 levels.

The idea behind these changes is to make items more individually impactful, which seemingly means loot is being toned down to make it more meaningful. Blizzard continues: “We’ve significantly decreased the number of items that drop when slaying Monsters. The goal here is to spend more time obliterating and less time sorting through the many items that drop”.

Loot isn’t the only change in season 4, with new changes slated for the Helltide events in Diablo 4. These events will be playable on all world tiers, which means you don’t have to be worried about anything gating you. Loot Reborn brings three new Blessings for you: the Urn of Nightmares, the Urn of Iron, and the Urn of Obols. The latter blessing boosts the number of Obols you find in Helltide chests.

Another new system being added in Diablo 4 season 4 is Hellborn enemies. These enemies are tied to your Threat Level, which will increase from one to three as you dispatch enemies. The higher your threat, the more dangerous foes become, with an increased chance of being ambushed. At max threat, you become hell-marked and encounter Hellborn enemies.

Loot Reborn will also add Andariel the Maiden of Anguish as a new summonable boss fight. Andariel has the same tier as her brother Duriel, so expect a similar challenge. Expect plenty of unique items and legendary items in this new patch, complete with affixes.
