Diablo 4 takes place in the chaotic, war-torn landscape of Sanctuary, which means your main task as the game’s good-willed protagonist will be to help out its denizens as much as possible. However, some within the Diablo 4 community are apparently tired of seeing incompetent dungeon NPC explorers asking for help as these burdensome figures often perish once the demon hordes start coming in.

A particularly disgruntled player named Theinsulated7 even went so far as to create a Reddit post lambasting these inadequate adventurers because of their amateurish attempts at exploring all dungeon locations found throughout the Diablo 4 hellscape. In their thread, Theinsulated7 said they’re “getting sick and tired of coming across incompetent explorers in dungeons and having to defend them from wave after wave of monsters.”

“Like, I’m up to my f***ing neck in mobs trying to not get one-shot by some cheap ass sh*t that I can’t even see and now I have to worry about keeping your sorry ass alive? And for what? A nice, big pile of radiant garbage that I’ll have to carry all the way back to town by myself?,” they harshly continued. A commenter named djheat then recommended that others ignore these adventurers instead as they said: “Honestly, once you’re [at World Tier 3] or 4, you’re doing them a favor [by] ignoring them.” “Listen buddy, if I activate this event, you are definitely dead – at least now you’ve got a chance,” they finished.

With these sporadic dungeon events barely granting any significant loot rewards at the end, ignoring these helpless explorers may just be for the best since you’ll at least be helping them see the light of another day by doing so. Although they may never breathe the demonic stench of Sanctuary’s outside air again, these NPCs should at least be able to find peace of mind knowing they can survive – just as long as no one talks to them, that is.
