The most recent patch for Diablo 4 does not appear to have gone down well with the community so far, as many are already calling for a boycott of Season 1.

A number of threads on the Diablo subreddit have expressed their anger at some of the changes in the Diablo 4 1.01 update, with Marzombra posting a thread entitled “Maybe we should all skip Season 1 and see if that wakes them up?” with plenty of fellow disgruntled players in the comments. “Even my casual friends who haven’t touched any ARPG other than Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 have already stopped playing,” reports Bohya. “Even without reading the patch notes, they have no desire to continue playing the game.”

There’s plenty of other threads too of users voicing their displeasure with the update, and users are not holding back and already asking when the next season will drop. “Well, it looks like I’m dropping Diablo for a while if this is how the player base is gonna get shafted,” says Keystranger5860. “Kind of a shame, I was really looking forward to (the) season.” “What is even the point of this season, it is so boring why even have it at all it is practically nothing anyways?” adds Agressive-Article41.

It seems the negative feedback on the patch has gotten so loud, that Diablo global community development director Adam Fletcher has taken to Twitter to confirm that Blizzard will be addressing the community directly later this week. “We have been hearing feedback from players regarding some of the changes in 1.1.0 for Diablo 4. We are going to have a Campfire Chat later this week on Friday to talk more about it.”

Many however, think it’s too little, too late. “Nothing will save this game,” says Greenchair11. “This patch just made me realise how fxxked this game is. At this point, itemization needs a complete overhaul, damage mechanics need a complete overhaul, defensive mechanics need a complete overhaul, cool downs are hilariously long – and with this patch they are even longer.”

We’ll have to wait and see what action Blizzard take, if any, in response to this overwhelmingly negative feedback ahead of the Diablo 4 Season 1 start date later this week. In the meantime, check out our Diablo 4 beginner’s guide.
