The impending release of Modern Warfare 3 has CoD fans abuzz with excitement as the new series entry is reportedly set for release later on in the year. However, some skeptical players are telling Activision to “take a break” first instead of releasing the upcoming installment immediately as they believe that it’ll just be an unenjoyable, bug-filled mess once it’s launched.
Although the introduction of Season 3 Reloaded saw a handful of new additions to the Modern Warfare 2 weapons list and maps list, people still want to see more improvements made to the current game since it’s only been out for a few months. One devoted fan in particular has even gone on Reddit to ask the CoD publisher to build on what they currently have since it already has “plenty to offer.”
In a post shared through the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, a user named metalheadgamerdude said that Activision should stop making Call of Duty games as they still want the developers to build on what they already have. Other commenters would go on to echo the poster’s sentiment, stating that “they’d have loved a second year of support for this game too.”
However, these players have also noted that “Activision are money hungry whores who have no decency,” so they understand that this won’t actually be a possibility based on the CoD publisher’s track record. Even though Modern Warfare 2’s launch initially broke records for the long-standing FPS series, the subsequent backlash that it received has constantly disgruntled many within the player base, meaning Activision may be looking to use this to their advantage.
With this in mind, the only way to make the CoD executives change their ways is by boycotting the upcoming release. But, alas, the always-divided player base will more than likely continue to purchase each new shiny game that gets launched.
