WoW’s newest expansion, Dragonflight, has just dropped with its very first season. As it is with MMORPG expansions in general, this wave of new content has also brought with it new material that can be used to craft powerful equipment.

One such new material is called Sparks of Ingenuity, and it’s used to craft epic quality items that will help you survive in the Dragon Isles. Fortunately, getting this invaluable item is rather straight forward, but there is a limited number of them you can get in this season.

Getting the First Spark of Ingenuity

In order to get your first Spark of Ingenuity, you first have to complete the Dragonflight campaign, specifically up to the point where the Engine of Innovation located in the Bronze Enclave within Valdrakken becomes accessible.

After completing the main quest, travel to Valdrakken, and guarding the Engine of Innovation will be the Maiden of Innovation, who will give you a quest named ‘In Tyr’s Footsteps’. Accept that quest and go to the Azure Span to begin the first challenge of Tyr.

The challenge itself will be rather straight forward, and after completing it, you’ll be directed back to the Engine of Innovation, where talking to the maiden again will reward you with the ‘Fueling the Engine’ quest. Complete this to get your first Spark of Ingenuity.

Getting the Second Spark of Ingenuity 

As soon as you complete the first challenge of Tyr, the maiden will give you a second quest to complete. Similar to the first one, this challenge will also take around twenty minutes to complete and will be pretty easy.

After completing it, you’ll have to return to the Engine of Innovation in order to talk to the Maiden one more time. Doing so will reward you with your second Spark of INgenuity for your troubles.

Getting More Sparks of Ingenuity

Just like you got the first two Sparks of Ingenuity, you’ll be able to get a grand total of five Sparks just by completing the challenges of Tyr that the Maiden of Innovation gives you. However, not all of them will unlock instantly. 

Instead, they’ll unlock after a short gap between each of them. The exact dates you can expect more quests to unlock are

  • 12th December 
  • 26th December
  • 9th January 
  • 23rd January

Although this is the only way to obtain Sparks of Ingenuity so far, it is expected that after the fifth challenge of Tyr is completed, they’ll become extremely rare drops that players will be able to get by doing activities in Dragonflight, although nothing has been confirmed so far.

Therefore, we suggest you use the five Sparks of Ingenuity you get from the Maiden sparingly. After all, who knows when we’ll be able to get more.

Final Thoughts

New crafting materials aren’t the only things that have been added with the Dragonflight expansion. A total of eight dungeons are included with this expansion, and the equipment you can craft using Sparks of Ingenuity will really help you in getting through them in one piece.
