- Get the Vestigial Organ by clearing specific missions at the Agna Desert or the White-night Gulch.
- Miragestone’s Vulgus Strategic Outpost and the Observatory’s Void Fusion Reactor have a 50% chance of dropping this weapon.
Launchers are a potent choice in The First Descendant and few pack as much of a punch as the Vestigial Organ. Its large explosion radius lets you eliminate entire mobs at a time and you can level it up further to enhance its stats. It’s not an ultimate weapon but that makes upgrading it even easier. Here’s how you can get this behemoth of a launcher in the game.
Vestigial Organ locations and how to get it
Complete one of the following missions for a 50% chance of obtaining the Vestigial Organ:
- Miragestone’s Vulgus Strategic Outpost in Agna Desert
- Previous Construct Team Quarters in The Storage at Agna Desert
- Cave Rally Point in Moongrave Basin of the White-night Gulch
- Void Fragment in the Hatchery zone in White-night Gulch
- Void Fusion Reactor in the Observatory zone at White-night Gulch
We recommend the recon mission in Miragestone as it’s a fairly simple one, especially with Sharen’s stealth abilities. Expect the launcher to drop at level 45 or above. And remember that you might have to grind this mission a couple of times to get it. You can level up the weapon with Phase Exchangers via Weapon Level Transmission to keep the gun viable through the endgame. Note that you have to beat the Devourer Void Intercept boss in a story mission to access White-night Gulch. Similarly, defeating the Dead Bride boss opens up the Agna Desert.
Best Vestigial Organ build
If you’re focusing on optimising your Vestigial Organ for taking down high-level targets, here’s our recommended build:
- Focus on damage modules: Modules can be enhanced with Kuiper Shards at Silion’s post in Albion. Opt for modules that raise Explosive ATK and elemental damage to target specific weaknesses. You can also opt for reload speed and larger magazines. Launchers tend to take a while to reload so balance this with the right modules. We don’t recommend opting for critical hit rate and damage as rapid-firing weapons like SMGs have a higher chance of triggering crits.
- Use Weapon Readjustment to reroll stats: Once you reach the max weapon level of 100 with the launcher, you can reroll its key stats via Weapon Readjustment at a workbench by using Adjustment Control Axes and some Gold. This will let you get even higher Explosive ATK, Elemental ATK, Weapon Change Speed, and Attribute Status Effect Trigger Rate for your Vestigial Organ.
- Focus on mobs over bosses: While this does deal solid damage against single targets, its low ammo means that you’re better off using it against mobs of weaker enemies. Shotguns and sniper rifles use the same purple High-Power rounds as launchers and are a better bet against large targets like Void Intercept bosses.
