The Wand of Watoomb brings Dr. Strange and more into the Insomniac Spidey-Verse

Perhaps not an Easter egg, but more of an omelette, part of the main quest is going to bring Black Cat and Miles Morales to the Sanctum Sanctatorum. Felicity has just stolen the Wand of Watoomb, a dimension shifting relic, and is using it to flee the Hunters.

After the mission ends – Wong and Dr. Strange reclaim the relic, before leaving a note: “Sorry, just got back from Nepal, the Doctor and I owe you one.” It’s possible that we could be seeing the Sorcerers introduced into the game at some point, especially with the late introduction of Cindy Moon.

Spidey snaps New Yorker’s playing with a replica Captain America shield

It’s not quite certain what’s happened to The Avengers in Spider-Man 2, though we know they exist thanks to the looming Avengers Tower. Where they’ve been through all of New York’s recent misery – who knows.

As part of Robbie Robertson’s Photo Ops missions, you’re going to come across two Yankees playing with a replica Cap shield.

This one’s pretty on the nose. At the theme park with MJ and Harry, Peter will play a game called Hydra Head Hitter. For those that don’t know, Hydra is an Illuminati-esque criminal organisation in the Marvel Universe, infamous for bouts with Spider-Man and Captain America.

Dr. Connor’s relocation to Madripoor

Madripoor is a fictional location in the Marvel Universes. Recently adapted into The Falcon and Winter Soldier TV show, it’s also visited in the Shang Chi film. Of course, the Insomniac Spidey universe is different to that one, though you can find a note in Dr. Connors’ office noting that he had attempted a relocation to Madripoor at some point.

Madripoor is somewhat of a sanctuary location for super-heroes and villains to exist without fear of exposure to regular humans. It’s somewhat fitting that the Lizard would relocate there. However, following the boss fight against the Lizard, it seems unnecessary at this point.

Madripoor is also tightly linked to the Wolverine, who is getting an Insomniac game at some point.

Miles has a Wolverine suit

While we’ve already covered how to unlock all of the suits in Spider-Man 2, you might be interested in a pretty direct Easter egg. This suit is dedicated to Wolverine, the star of Insomniac next Marvel game.

Breaking News: Norman Osborn is the grievous Green Goblin!

Despite my best attempts to mimic J. Jonah Jameson’s libellous headlines – it’s not actually confirmed that Norman Osborn is the Green Goblin, However, it seems extremely likely. A number of things including the characters canon past, demands for the G-Serum during the ending and his meeting with Dr. Ock. However, the most vibrant hint that he’s going to take on the Green Goblin’s mantle is this hilarious street art found in game.

The billionaire villain is responsible for the Devil’s Breath outbreak – hence the red fumes, though the green horns seem to indicate something pretty obvious.

The Baxter Building is on the way

You might have spotted a building in New York with a big 4 half-plastered over the rooftop. Is this the Baxter Building?

Is this the Fantastic Four establishing themselves in New York?

Miguel O’Hara is name-dropped, placing Insomniac’s Spider-Men in the Spider-Verse timeline

Once you solve the mystery of the Spider-Bots origin, you’re going to come face to face with a portal. On the other side is a character who looks far from Insomniac’s design choice. You find out this is a friend of Miguel O’Hara, otherwise known as Spider-Man 2099.

This character is the main villain in the Across the Spider-Verse film, which also features Insomniac’s Spider-Man.

This appearance helps us place game within the Spidey-Verse timeline, as we know that the game came before the film now. This opens up future games to growing potential for multi-versal plot-lines, which is certainly likely now.
