Have you come across a node out in the wild in Slime Rancher 2, only to be met with a message saying you don’t have the correct upgrade? We’re here to help with everything you need to know to break and harvest nodes in Slime Rancher 2

As the message implies, you’ll need a specific upgrade to your Vacpack – the Resource Harvester – which will make easy work of these tough nodes, granting an array of new resources to level up your ranching efforts.

Head down to the basement below the Conservatory and interact with the Fabricator. Under upgrades, click on the first icon, the Resource Harvester. To unlock the Slime Rancher 2 Harvester upgrade, you’ll need to gather up:

  • 450 Newbucks
  • 10 Cotton Plorts

You can sell Plorts at the Market in the Conservatory to get the Newbucks. Cotton Slimes deposit Cotton Plorts after being fed/eating veggies. You’ll find these off-white/yellow Slimes, recognizable for having floppy rabbit-like ears, hopping and skipping throughout the western parts of Rainbow Island.

How to Harvest Nodes in Slime Rancher 2

With the Harvester upgrade unlocked, head back out and find a gem, stone, or liquid node. These tend to spawn up on ledges, rocky outcrops, or hidden away in caves and down small paths lining the coast of the islands, but shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

Slime Rancher 2 gems and stones feature a rock base and colorful nodes, while liquid nodes resemble a small geyser erupting from the ground. Vac the node as you would a Slime, chicken, or food to break it and unlock the resources contained within. Remember to vacuum up the resources before moving on.

At this point, we recommend storing your harvest in the Refinery for safekeeping by either firing them into the device itself or using Refinery Links scattered throughout Slime Rancher 2’s world. These become vital to unlocking more advanced upgrades as you progress forward in the game.

That’s a wrap on how to harvest nodes in Slime Rancher 2. Happy ranching.
