Corporate greed along with a good dose of idiocy has landed you on Stellaris Prime, an alien planet that’s as rife with danger as it is beautiful. While your former employer won’t be much help in the very pressing task of survival, a little bit of curiosity and gumption should see you thrive and maybe even make it back to earth to get your revenge.
After getting intimately acquainted with Racoon Logic’s sequel, we’ve pulled together 5 Revenge of the Savage Planet tips and tricks to provide a little guidance to beginners and those overwhelmed with this colorful and irreverent action adventure.
Scan everything
One of the first mechanics you’re introduced to is Scanning Mode. Not only is it an interesting little peek into an alien world’s fauna and flora (along with a few jokes to lighten the mood), it also teaches you about what resources are at your disposal and how to use the environment to your advantage with gooey jump pads, bomb-spawning plants, and so on.
Scanning is also vital to unlocking upgrades, which you’ll definitely need as you explore alien worlds. The more stuff you scan, the more upgrades you’ll have access to. For more details, check out our dedicated guide explaining how to unlock upgrades in Revenge of the Savage Planet. Note that you can bring up the map and hover over a region and you’ll see how many remaining scannables are left.
Gather all the resources
Silicon, aluminum, carbon – these are all resources you’ll come across as you explore Revenge of the Savage Planet’s alien worlds. By pressing the Z key at any time, you can emit a scan that will pick-up and mark any nearby resource deposits. Gather them whenever you get the chance as they’ll come in handy as you unlock upgrades. Some of the later upgrades require massive amounts of resources, so start gathering them early to avoid having to grind for them later.
Sip Orange Goos to upgrade your health and stamina
Scattered across every planet are orange orbs known as Orange Goos. Interacting and drinking from these will increase your health and stamina, which are pretty lacking in the early hours of the game. Running out of stamina when trying to escape an aggressive critter is no fun at all. Conveniently, health and stamina upgrades are marked on your map as soon as you discover an area, so get into the habit of regularly seeking them out.
Loot Printer Slurries cartridges
Open up the map and you should spot several green icons representing a wound coil. These are Printer Slurries, which are a source of fuel for the 3D printer back at your base. Without Printer Slurries cartridges, you won’t be able to print new equipment or unlock upgrades so you’ll want to seek these out whenever possible.
The environment is often a better weapon that your Pacifier Pistol
While video game logic will likely push you to lean on your Griff and Splunker Pacifier Pistol to deal with alien creatures, you’re often best off using the environment to your advantage. Exploding plants, bombs of different types, and even a creature’s innate behaviour – these can all be used to quickly and efficiently deal with enemies. They are also often strategically placed nearby whenever you encounter a group of threatening critters so make use of them.
