Will Dead Island 2 be on Switch? Many people who played the original game back in 2011 have been waiting a very long time for this sequel to come out. Nine years following its initial announcement, we finally can get our hands on it. With all of these new consoles being out, though, can you expect to find the game on your Nintendo Switch?

Can you play Dead Island 2 on Nintendo Switch?

As of this writing, there are no announced plans for Dead Island 2 to ever make its way to the Nintendo Switch. The game is only available on PC through the Epic Games Store, PlayStation, and Xbox.

When Dead Island 2 was initially announced, the Wii U was in the middle of its underperformance sales-wise for Nintendo consoles, so it really was not surprising at the time for the game not to be planned for that console. The Nintendo Switch is a different story. While it is incredibly popular, developing these intensive games on it can be challenging. With that in mind, if a Switch version ever is available in the future, it will likely be either cloud-based or severely cut down compared to the other versions.

When the original Dead Island came out, it also avoided appearing on Nintendo platforms. Even the later remasters of it and semi-sequel Riptide never appeared on any Nintendo console. With all of that in mind, there seems to be a trend here where the series will keep skipping the more family friendly platform.
