Resident Evil 4 Remake – How to Beat Salazar

Resident Evil 4 Remake - Leon fires at Salazar with an SMG

In Salazar’s new form, he will alternate between keeping his monstrous mouth shut for protection and open to reveal the original body inside. Don’t waste your shots on the mouth, wait for the original body to appear and unload with your most powerful weapons.

While Salazar is vulnerable with the mouth open, he is also capable of powerful attacks. He will often spew a line of black liquid forward down a path, which will deal heavy damage on contact, forcing Leon to keep moving.

Your gaze will often be fixed upwards while the boss grapples his way around the arena, but be sure to keep an eye on the ground too. Salazar will often drop globules of the black, tar-like substance onto the battlefield. These will detonate like mines if Leon gets too close, damaging and staggering him.

Resident Evil 4 Remake - Salazar weak point exposed

It’s best to keep moving frequently in this fight, and using the arena’s layout for cover. Salazar has an instant-kill attack if he gets too close, chomping Leon in two. Only stop if you need to take careful aim at the boss’ weak point. Hitting his body is fine, but landing a shot on the eye on his neck will deal a huge amount of damage.

When enough damage has been dealt to Salazar, he’ll drop prone to the ground and remain motionless for a while. Use this opportunity to close in and use a special melee attack when prompted, or otherwise take the chance to use your best weapons on his exposed eye.
