Resident Evil 4 Remake: How To Get Into The Church

Midway through exploring the village area in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you’ll learn that your best shot at finding the president’s daughter Ashley lies in the area’s church. With Ashley inside and the gates barred, Leon will need to find a way to get into the church as soon as possible.

How To Get Into The Church In Resident Evil 4 Remake

When you first approach the church in Resident Evil 4 Remake’s third chapter, you might expect an easy entrance, if not a warm welcome. Unfortunately, the entrance to the church is barred with an intricate lock. It’s clear you’ll need to locate the key to progress, it cannot be found within this chapter.

Head through the quarry and fish farm, and eventually defeat Del Lago to complete chapter three. Once you enter chapter four, you’ll quickly locate the key you need. But not only are the church gates sealed, but the key itself is also locked away too.

You’ll need to explore the two locations marked on the nearby stone mural in order to locate the two items – stone heads – that can be used to unseal the key and finally add it to your inventory.

The Church Key: Cave Puzzle And Solution

Once you gain control of the boat in chapter four, you’ll have your choice of two locations to explore and locate the stone heads. The closer of the two is within the same cave system as your first boat dock, so head there first.

The way to the first stone head will be barred by a not inconsiderable amount of villagers. And these foes will be stronger than the standard enemies you’ll have faced so far, their heads frequently bursting into writhing plagas parasites with blade-sharp tendrils.

Use whatever firepower you have to to burn through the crowds here. But while you do, or at least once the fighting has died down, keep an eye on the walls and rock formations of the cave. Several yellow symbols can be found painted around the area, and they are crucial to solving the upcoming puzzle and collecting the stone head.

At the end of the cave is a peculiar lock and a corresponding tablet displaying strange symbols. The correct symbols input will correspond with those you’ve seen in the cave so far. We’ll show you the correct symbols to input here.

Once the symbols have been selected, head inside the cell and claim the stone head for yourself.

The Church Key: Lake Puzzle And El Gigante

Thankfully this location won’t have you beset by plagas. Instead, you’ll simply need to maneuver around the wooden shack and once more locate the correct symbols to input and collect the stone head.

With both stone heads collected, all that’s left is to return to the altar and claim the key. Once you’ve done so, begin backtracking through the quarry. The church will be just ahead, but to get there you’ll have to contend with the El Gigante boss.

He’ll take more than a few hits, but once the boss is down there’s nothing else standing in your way. Bring the key back to the church, unlock the gates and finally get inside to find Ashley.
