While Rainbow Six Siege has been out for almost seven years now, the hype is still very real, with new Operators being introduced in every new season. R6S has a total of 61 Operators, divided into Attackers and Defenders. Each Operator has their own set of utilities that make them good at a particular task, allowing them to play a set role in any team.

How Can You Unlock Operators?

When it comes to unlocking Operators in Rainbow Six Siege, there are two main things you’ll need to do: Earn enough Renown or R6 Credits and purchase your desired Operator. We’ve explained both these steps below:

How To Get Renown Or R6 Credits

To unlock an Operator, you’ll first need to acquire the required R6 Credits and Renown for that specific op. While you can simply purchase R6 Credits in-game or through the Ubisoft Store, you will need to grind R6S in order to get Renown.

You can earn Renown by simply playing any game mode in R6S. After playing a complete game, you’ll get an average of around 200-600 Renown, depending on how you played in the game as well as considering the match result. 

How To Purchase The Operator

Once you have accumulated enough renown, follow the steps below to unlock your desired Operator: 

  1. In R6S, head into the Operators Menu on the game’s main screen.
  1. Choose Attackers or Defenders, depending on the Operator you want to unlock.

You’ll be able to see the current locked Operators (greyed out) and the already unlocked Operators (colored). 

  1. Click on the Operator you wish to unlock and press “Unlock With Renown” or “Buy With R6 Credits”. 

Pressing the button will automatically unlock the Operator if you have the required R6 Credits or Renown. 

How Much Renown And R6 Credits Do Operators Cost 

As mentioned previously, Operators in Rainbow Six Siege can either be bought with Renown or R6 credits. Before you start your grind to unlock an Operator, take a look at our table to judge if it’s really worth the effort or if you’d rather just purchase R6 credits to get the Operator:
