While the server assigned to you in Rainbow Six Siege is usually the one that’ll get you the lowest ping, sometimes it can act quite glitchy, making it impossible to play the game. That is when it’s a good idea to switch to another region to see if the issue prevails in another server so you can reside there until the game fixes the bugs in yours.

How To Change Rainbow Six Siege Server and Region On PC

There might be a lot of reasons you would want to change your region. The most prominent one is that your ping isn’t stable, or you’re looking to play with someone else outside your region, so you’re trying to find the middle ground where you’d both get the lowest ping. Nevertheless, whatever the reason may be, the process is relatively straightforward. Here’s how you can change your server/region in R6S:

  1. On your system, open File Explorer and then go to Documents
  1. In Documents, go to My Games → Rainbow Six Siege
  1. In this file, you’ll probably find folders named with weird numbers and alphabets. They are the profile ID your game automatically makes when you log in to an account and play R6S. If you don’t know which one is yours, you can just delete every one of them and then login into the game. You can then revisit the file to only see a single folder that references your profile ID.

After that, open the GameSettings file. If your PC asks you how to open the file, choose to open it with Notepad.

  1. At the bottom of the file, there’ll be an option that says “DataCenterHint=default”. You’ll also be able to see a couple of lines above, which list all the servers, such as playfab/australiaeast. So, for example, if you’re looking to change your region to Australia, copy this line and place it in place of default so that now the line reads as:

DataCenterHint=playfab/australiaeast

After you’re done with this, the next time you launch your game, you’ll be on the Australian server. Here’s a list of all the servers/regions you can play in Rainbow Six Siege. Simply copy and paste your desired region into the notepad:

  1. playfab/australiaeast
  2. playfab/brazilsouth
  3. playfab/centralus
  4. playfab/eastasia
  5. playfab/eastus
  6. playfab/japaneast
  7. playfab/northeurope
  8. playfab/southafricanorth
  9. playfab/southcentralus
  10. playfab/southeastasia
  11. playfab/uaenorth
  12. playfab/westeurope
  13. playfab/westus

How To Change Rainbow Six Siege Server/Region On Consoles

The above-mentioned method won’t work on consoles since you have no way to access the configuration files. There was a way before where you could tinker with the server settings when creating a custom online game on a console; however, the method seems to have been patched by Ubisoft.

Is It Safe To Change Server/Region In Rainbow Six Siege

However, with all this tinkering with the game’s files, it leaves you to question: will your account get banned from changing the server/region? Well, no one has ever been banned for changing their server through the configuration files.

While Ubisoft hasn’t officially commented on the safety, a configuration file contains your personalized settings, which you can switch from inside the game as well. So if you ask us, we feel it is entirely safe until Ubisoft says so, which they haven’t.
