Tier List

Ubisoft has drastically revamped its whole recoil system, which has changed how people now see certain weapons. They aim to make the game as skillful as possible so people don’t pick certain operators just because it has a gun with low recoil.

To help sort the good from the bad, we have ranked each new and old gun featured in the game that you can use to rack up those kills in no time.

Assault Rifles

Assault rifles were guns with which you could aim with high precision and accuracy in long fights, as well as close combats. However, this saw people picking an Operator such as Ash over and over again just for the sake of her gun and not the utility she offers. For that reason, now Assault rifles are pretty challenging to use especially if you don’t learn their recoil pattern.

S-Tier

These guns, we believe, are easy to use with not much recoil to control. Not only that, they have a high damage output and are also great for initiating long-range fights:

  • L8A52
  • AR33
  • AUG A2
  • C7E
  • Spear .308
  • ARX 200
  • F90

A-Tier

Our A-Tier guns require you to master their recoil pattern before you get the hang of them. If you’re new to Rainbow Six Siege, it’ll take a while before you can begin to ace those kills with them. You’ll also probably be whiffing your aim a lot initially, but after your muscle memory gets used to their recoil, you’ll be outgunning your opponents in no time.

  • F2
  • AK-12
  • C8 SFW
  • Para-308
  • 552 Commando
  • V308

B-Tier

These guns are challenging to use and require you to invest a considerable amount of time before you can master their skills fully. While no Siege player would prefer using them, the Operators that use those guns are vital to drafts, so you’ll probably have to come across them one day or the other.

  • R4-C
  • 556XI
  • 416-C Carbine
  • Type 89
  • AK-74M
  • Commando 9

C-Tier

These guns have been out of the meta and require a huge buff before they can be started to use again. Some of these have high recoil, while some have low fire rates. In any case, they only have a specific use and aren’t recommended to be used in each and every round.

  • AR-15.50
  • M762
  • MK17 CQB

Light Machine Guns (LMGs)

While LMGs were always pretty easy to use in Rainbow Six Siege, the devs at Ubisoft Montreal thought that it was time to nerf them, and rightfully so. Sometimes it would just get annoying where people who lacked mechanical skills would just win those 1v1’s just because they would spam their enormous LMG magazine, rendering you helpless and frustrated.

S-Tier

S-Tier LMGs are ones that have low recoil and don’t shake much horizontally, which other-tier SMGs do. They also don’t have much recoil, so it’s recommended for those who’re looking to get some easy kills.

  • G8A1
  • T-95 LSW

A-Tier

These are also pretty easy to use, but the guns can be a little more challenging than the S-Tier. However, if you have a got a good hang of the S-Tier ones, you’ll also be able to use them with ease.

  • ALDA 5.56
  • M249 SAW
  • M249

B-Tier

With B-Tier, the guns have high vertical recoil. If you’re not a fan of controlling recoil, you can always head over to try other guns. Sometimes, you might have to use these Operators for their utility, so we recommend using them in the Training Ground to learn their recoil pattern

  • 6P41
  • LMG-E

Sub Machine Guns (SMGs)

SMGs work best at defense since they’re more suited and booted for close quarters due to the high fire rate they provide you with. While they have significantly less damage than Assault Rifles, they are more than enough to help you outgun the attackers if you’ve got a good aim on your hands.

S-Tier

S-Tier SMGs are pretty balanced and have great fire rates along with the damage that can be used to annihilate your opponents in no time. If you want a more easy and chilling experience, we suggest you go on the battlefield with these guns.

  • AUG A3
  • T-5 SMG
  • PDW9
  • MP5K

A-Tier

These aren’t pretty far away from S-Tier, the only difference being that they have a higher recoil compared to S-Tier. You won’t feel much difference playing them, except you might sometimes whiff your shots if you’re used to playing too many S-Tier weapons.

  • FMG 9
  • MP7
  • MP5SD
  • Vector .45 ASP
  • Mx4 Storm

B-Tier

Our B-tier guns have some constraints, which make learning them a good skill. Some might have high recoil, some low damage, or even a small magazine. In short, mastering them fully takes a while so don’t give up too easily.

  • K1A
  • P10 Roni
  • 9mm C1
  • 9×19 VSN

C-Tier

C-tier guns are hard to use since they don’t really have much damage. You’ll need to shoot at the opponent’s upper torso, preferably their skulls, to make the most out of these guns. The only reason you’ll have to use these guns is that their respective Operators offer massive utility.

  • MPX
  • MP5
  • P90
  • Scorpion EVO3 A1
  • M12
  • UMP 45

Shotguns

Shotguns work best at close-range quarters and can literally devour down your opponents without even giving them a fighting chance. However, not all shotguns in Siege are easy to use; some we feel are even in the game for the sake of it and require a considerable buff before the community can even begin using them again.

S-Tier

If you’re a Smoke player, you’ll know how fun it is to shoot that shotgun of his in your enemies’ faces. These shotguns offer high damage and will get you one-shot kills if you’re close enough.

  • M590A1
  • FO-12
  • ACS-12
  • TCSG12

A-Tier

Unfortunately, we don’t think any Shotgun is worthy enough to make it to the A-tier list.

B-Tier

These might not be effective as the S-tier ones, but they are still relatively decent. Their hitbox is smaller, and you’ll probably need to shoot your enemy twice or thrice to injure/kill them.

  • M10104
  • SG-CQB
  • SASG-12
  • M870
  • BOSG.12.2

C-Tier

These guns require a massive buff since they are pretty weak compared to other shotguns, and you’ll only see people using them once in a blue moon. They don’t offer much on the table, and there are better alternatives out there.

  • SIX12
  • SIX12 SD
  • SPAS-15
  • ITA12L

D-Tier

D-Tier shotguns are rendered useless, and honestly speaking it would be a grave mistake if you’re even thinking of using them. You’ll probably need to shoot as much as you would from an assault rifle to kill an enemy. They require a full rework before they can be useful again.

  • Supernova
  • Super 90

Marksmen Rifles

Marksmen Rifles are great, especially if you’re looking to hold an angle or play long-range since only they are equipped with 3.0x Scopes. Most of them have always remained balanced, with a few tweaks coming their way, but nothing too significant. Here’s what we think they’re ranked inside the game:

S-Tier

S-tier marksmen rifles are rifles with high damage and less muzzle kick. They’re wonderfully good and can be a menace if you’re really good at using DMRs in the game. Our S-tier choices are also great if you’re looking to learn using DMRs in the game.

  • MK14 EBR
  • CAMRS

A-Tier

These rifles are also great but can be hard to use. They’re not bad but are slightly less profitable than the S-tier options. If you’ve got a good firm on S-tier DMRs, you won’t have a problem using them.

  • Ots-403
  • 417
  • SR-25

Final Thoughts

All in all, we feel that with the currently running meta and how pro R6S players are tackling it, this is how guns should be ranked from top to bottom. This list isn’t official at all, so if you’re more comfortable playing with an Operator and their gun that is ranked lower, there’s no need to worry about it.
