Fire Mode in Rainbow Six Siege is a way to change your gun’s firing method from automatic to either burst or single shot. This can be handy, especially if you’re more comfortable using other firing methods to tackle the recoil mechanic in Rainbow Six Siege.

How To Change Fire Mode In Rainbow Six Siege

Unfortunately, the devs at Rainbow Six Siege have removed the feature that allowed you to change Fire Mode in the game. Before that, you could do it by clicking the B key during a round.

The reason for removing it was pretty straightforward, and many players didn’t even bother using it. That is because, for instance, suppose you’re playing any Operator on Attack with an Assault Rifle. While you could change its firing mode to Single Shot like a Marksmen Rifle, you’d be at a disadvantage anyway.

Why Did Fire Mode Put You At A Disadvantage?

To answer your question, you would not be using the gun to its maximum damage. A Marksmen Rifle has way higher damage than an Assault Rifle in Siege. Using the Assault Rifle as a Marksmen Rifle would be a grave mistake since you’ll be landing fewer bullets, and killing enemies would just become very hard unless you have exceptional mechanical skills and your bullets land on enemy skulls only.

So if you just want to use an Assault as a Marksmen Rifle, why not just use the Marksmen Rifle itself instead since it’s a way more viable option with high damage? While you could argue that the devs could’ve kept the burst firing mode since it helped people control the recoil of many guns out there, all in all, the feature was rendered pretty much useless by the R6S community.
