How to complete Drayton’s Elite Trial in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk

Drayton’s Elite Trial is called Terarium-Only Battles. To complete this trial, you must defeat the trainers that Drayton summons using only Pokemon that have been caught within the Terarium and by yourself. That’s right, you cannot use a friend’s Pokemon nor can you use Pokemon caught in the Paldea region or the land of Kitakami.

Let’s break down how to best complete this trial and how to beat the trainers:

Increase the diversity

Before you complete this trial, you can spend your BP to increase the biodiversity in each of the biomes. This will give you access to more Pokemon in the Terarium.

Best Pokemon to get for this trial

There are a lot of Pokemon that you can choose from for Drayton’s Elite Trial. We chose the following to cover most of the bases for the fight:

  • Archaludon (steel/dragon-type)
  • Golurk (ground/ghost-type)
  • Galvantula (bug/electric-type)
  • Galarian Slowbro (Psychic-type)
  • Hitmontop (fighting-type)
  • Lapras (water/ice-type)

You will need Pokemon that can handle electric-type, ice-type, steel-type, and ground-type Pokemon since that is what the trainers will be using. Keep in mind that each of the trainers will be using two Pokemon since each fight is a double-battle.

Fight Craig the Student

The first of the trainers, Craig, will bring out Bastiodon and Rampardos. Both will be level 68. Use the following move types against these Pokemon:

  • Bastiodon – Weak to fighting, ground, and water-type moves
  • Rampardos – Weak to water, grass, fighting, ground, and steel-type moves

For this fight, we used Golurk’s Hammer Arm attack and Galvantula’s Energy Ball to easily take down both Pokemon Craig tossed out.

Fight Winter the Student

Next up for Drayton’s Elite Trial is Winter, she will mention that she is a cold competitor so you know that she will be using ice-type Pokemon. She will throw out Alolan Sandshrew and Dewgong both at level 68. Use the following move types against these Pokemon:

  • Alolan Sandslash – Weak to fire, ground, and fighting-type moves
  • Dewgong – Weak to grass, electric, fighting, and rock-type moves

For this fight, we stuck to what we used in the last fight. The Hammer Arm attack easily defeated Alolan Sandslash and Energy Ball took down Dewgong with little effort.

Fight Ray the Student

The final fight is against Ray and he uses electric-type Pokemon. Specifically, he will bring out Magnezone and Zebstrika at level 68. Use the following move types against these Pokemon:

  • Magnezone – Weak to ground, fighting, and fire-type moves
  • Zebstrika- Weak to ground-type moves

For this fight, we relied on Lapras’ Body Press attack and Golurk’s Stomping Tantrum. This brought down both competitors pretty quickly with each getting in a hit that nearly defeated our Pokemon.

Once you have beaten all three of these trainers, you will have completed Drayton’s Elite Trial. Drayton will congratulate you. At this point, you can choose to challenge him or switch up your party if you aren’t completely certain you can beat him.

How to beat BB League Elite Four Drayton in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk DLC

Drayton is the powerful ex-champion who uses dragon-type Pokemon. Make sure you have a strong team before you attempt to take him on. If you need to, you can switch out your team before battling him so you have your strongest Pokemon available.

Drayton has the following Pokemon on his team:

PokemonTypeWeaknessesLevel
DragoniteDragon/FlyingIce, Rock, Dragon, Fairy78
FlygonGround/DragonIce, Dragon, Fairy78
HaxorusDragonIce, Dragon, Fairy79
SceptileGrassFire, Ice, Poison, Bug79
KingdraWater/DragonDragon, Fairy79
ArchaludonSteel/Dragon (Dragon Tera Type)Fighting, Ground80

Drayton’s Pokemon have quite a few weaknesses but one of the best you can use is ice-type moves. Most of Drayton’s Pokemon are weak to ice-type moves or fairy-type moves so having a strong ice-type and fairy-type is great.

When it comes to Archaludon, Drayton will Terrastalize it into a pure dragon-type. This will be great for any fairy-type Pokemon you have. We mostly stuck to the Pokemon we caught during his trial with the addition of using Scream Tail from the base game for our fairy-type.

Once you defeat Drayton, he will give you the Dragon Cheer TM. If you haven’t beaten the rest of the Blueberry League yet, you will still need to deal with Amarys, Crispin, and Lacey.

That is everything you need to know about beating Drayton’s Elite Trial. Be sure to check out how to get and use the Item Printer in Pokemon Indigo Disk. You can also check out how to get the Synchro Machine in Pokemon Indigo Disk.
