How Can You Evolve Yungoos Into Gumshoos

In order to evolve Yungoos into Gumshoos, you’ll have to take it up to level 20 during the day. There are a lot of locations where you can find Yungoos. However, since they usually spawn in caves, you might make the mistake of evolving it at the wrong time of day.

Evolving Yungoos

Once you’ve got your hands on a Yungoos, you can start training it up to level 20. Since Yungoos isn’t that strong of a Pokémon, try to assist its EXP gain through the EXP Share if you don’t want to spend your Rare Candies on it (quick tip: don’t spend them on Yungoos).

However, you need to ensure your Yungoos reaches Level 20 during the daytime. No, we’re not talking about daytime in the real world. Here, we’re referring to daytime during the 35-minute in-game day cycle.

The in-game clock in Scarlet and Violet can be a bit weird at times (probably bugs which need to be fixed), as it can register the time as nighttime while the sun is coming up and vice versa. So to be sure you’re leveling Yungoos up at the right time, do it 5 minutes after you see the sun coming up.

If you accidentally level it up during the nighttime, don’t worry. Every level up after Level 20 will trigger an evolution if it’s the daytime.

How To Find Gumshoos

Since the in-game clock is a bit unreliable, you can skip the part where you have to evolve Yungoos and simply catch it directly. You can try to catch Gumshoos instead in all of the following locations:

  • South Province (Area One)
  • South Province (Area Four)
  • South Province (Area Six)
  • South Province (Area Five)
  • South Province (Area Three)
  • East Province (Area One)
  • East Province (Area Two)
  • East Province (Area Three)
  • Tagtree Thicket
  • Glaseadao Mountain
  • North Province (Area Three)
  • West Province (Area Three)
  • West Province (Area Two)
  • Asado Desert
  • West Province (Area One)

Catching Gumshoos is extremely convenient if you don’t mind spending a couple more Pokeballs and don’t care about training your Gumshoos. This way, you register it into your Pokedex without having to invest too much time into it.

Final Thoughts

Gumshoos isn’t very viable because of its poor stats. However, if you’re feeling cheeky, you can pair its high Attack with a strong nuke move like Thrash and possibly one-shot unsuspecting opponents.
