As it has been with every Pokemon game in the past, bug type Pokemon are considered to be the ‘beginner level’ Pokemon because of them being very easy to level up and evolve into their other forms.

One thing that’s been going on for a while in recent generation Pokemon games, is that the bug type pokemon would often get overlooked or forgotten. Well, both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are here to change that. Take Tarountula, the yarn ball Pokemon for example who has a more than impressive evolution called Spidops and is a valuable asset for many starting players.

How to get Tarountula
Tarountula, as mentioned above, is a beginner level Pokemon, and as such can be found pretty much as soon as you start the game. Any early game route you pick will have a Tarountula infestation, such as the Poco Path, Tagtree Thicket, and the first area of the Northern Province.
Because of how early players can get Tarountula in Pokemon Violet and Scarlet, chances are that it’ll end up being a major part of the main team of many players, at least when it comes to the early game.
If you want to directly catch a Spidops, however, then they can be found in the forest areas of Paldea, such as, again, Tagtree Thicket, and areas in the Southern and Western Provinces. Spidops will almost always be surrounded by multiple Tarountulas.
How to Evolve Tarountula into Spidops
Evolving Tarountula could literally not be any easier. All you have to do is level it up until it reaches level 15, at which point it will naturally evolve into Spidops without needing any extra requirements to be met.
Because the level requirement is so low, you should be able to evolve your Tarountula before even reaching the first gym by battling either trainers or wild Pokemon to farm experience quickly.

A quicker method would be to use EXP candies, but at that point in the game, you most likely won’t have any as they’re farmed primarily by participating in Tera Raid Battle events, with the harder raids yielding better EXP candy.

Final Thoughts
Spidops is an extremely good Pokemon to have, especially in the early game. With its above average attack as well as defense stats, beginner players tend to use Spidops as more of a tank Pokemon for the team, because of its ability to both take as well as deal damage.
Additionally, the fact that you can evolve Tarountula as early as level 15 means that Spidops will most likely be the first fully evolved Pokemon you’ll be getting in Pokemon Violet and Scarlet.
