Early on, this is a fantastic way to farm Essence for all your repair and shopping needs.

Essence is used as the game’s main currency. You will use this to repair your worn-down tools and purchase blueprints and other items from Essence Vendors. Suffice it to say, Essence is essen-cial.

Types of Essence in Nightingale

Depending on where you are in the game, you might have encountered various types of Essence. Essentially, Essence comes in four main forms: Essence Dust, T1 Essence, T2 Essence, and T3 Essence. Straightforward enough, these different Essence tiers dictate how much Essence you get from it.

Essence Dust is the usual form you’ll find when you start out in Nightingale. This is gained from Extracting your items and converting them into Essence Dust, which is something you must be doing. We’ve found that most Common items give you one Essence Dust per item extract.

T1 Essence is the next level and you will notice it has a green border, showing you it is of uncommon rarity. This T1 Essence comes from Extracting Green uncommon rarity items from your inventory. Essence tiers are directly tied to the rarity of the items you are Extracting, so bear this in mind.

Generally speaking, T1, T2, and T3 Essence are also rewards from various missions and quests. As such, you will naturally accrue quite a lot of Essence as you play through the game and progress through the main story quest. Bear in mind that some Realm cards are more likely to give you a higher rarity Essence that is in line with the realm’s difficulty.

How to earn Essence fast

You want to gather as many items and resources as you can and then extract them to get a big hit of Essence. When you consider how easy it is to run in a straight line and pick up endless supplies of fibre, sticks, and stones, you can simply get a stack of 100 and then Extract the rest you have.

There is a conversion rate on how much Essence each resource gives you, but typically it’s 1:1 or higher, depending on rarity as explained. Once you’ve got a base of operations up and running, along with excess materials stashed in chests for an emergency, you can start to safely Extract pretty much every unneeded resource for more Essence.
