The latest installment in Activision’s storied CoD series brings a lengthy MW3 operators list. Featuring several new faces and familiar ones that hardcore fans should be familiar with, the latest shoot ’em up entry’s roster is one of the biggest in the history of Call of Duty. With this in mind, if you want to familiarise yourself with the grizzled veterans who have made their way into the game, we’ve covered all you need to know here.

How many operators are there in MW3?

In addition to the 67 returning Operators from MW2, there are over a hundred Operators in MW3. Iconic characters like Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg are a part of those legacy characters. Unique Operators were added during the MW3 launch with more arriving with each Season. They are largely cosmetic changes that do not tinker with gameplay elements at all. They can all be customized with Finishing Moves as well.

There will be more added down the line, but for now, those are the only ones revealed. We will update this article more once we have the full vision of the new season.

What is the difference between SpecGru and KorTac operators in MW3?

As you might already know, Operators are specialized soldiers who can be selected and played as in multiplayer and co-op game modes. They belong to two opposing factions: Special Forces Group (SpecGru) and KorTac as listed above and in Activision’s announcement.

✓ Nico’s Tip

Take your pick!

The MW3 operators list offers a diverse array of skilled characters, each with unique abilities and backgrounds. Whether you prefer stealth, tactical expertise, or brute force, the operators in Modern Warfare 3 cater to a variety of playstyles, adding depth and strategic choices to the gaming experience.

SpecGru is a private military company (PMC) composed of highly trained and experienced soldiers from various special forces units around the world. They are known for their aggressive and direct tactics, often relying on brute force to achieve their objectives. This category of soldiers also include operators from the MW3 campaign characters such as Captain Price and Ghost.

Kortac on the other hand, is another PMC, but one with a more clandestine and secretive approach. Their operatives are often former members of elite intelligence agencies and are skilled in covert operations and unconventional warfare. They also have some of the campaign characters like Makarov which you can unlock and use in multiplayer matches.

The game’s handy carry-forward feature will enable you to use most of the characters you’ve already unlocked in MW2 including the MW2 and Warzone Diablo operators. So the money you spend to obtain them won’t be wasted if you stop playing MW2.

MW3 Operators FAQs

Should I use SpecGru or KolTac operators in MW3?

It depends on your preferred playstyle and preferred operator. If you prefer a more aggressive approach, SpecGru might be a better fit. If you prefer a more stealthy approach, KorTac might be more suitable.

How do I unlock operators without pre-ordering the game?

If you’ve missed out on the pre-order bonuses, you can unlock operators by completing various operator challenges in Multiplayer.
