After the aerial excursion of Close Air, Recon By Fire puts you right back in the stealthy shoes of Gaz and Price. Tracking the Intel gained from Hassan’s phone, you’ll be going off the radar and infiltrating a remote installation in the hopes of tracking down the rogue missiles.
We’ll get you through Recon By Fire in Modern Warfare 2, helping you make as little noise as possible.

Modern Warfare 2 – Recon By Fire Walkthrough
As Recon by Fire begins, Gaz and Price are wrapped up in Ghillie suits, taking out enemies and slowly moving forward.
Scoping in will allow you to track the cartel guards’ positions and your distance to them. Take Price’s advice and move forward through the grass without engaging.
Crawl along to the right of the wind turbines without getting too close to the water. Once Laswell contacts you, head to the treeline. As the small convoy rolls past, Price points out that the trucks look as though they could be holding missiles, making them your new target. Pursue the trucks and use the tunnel to crawl under the road.
Conceal your weapon, and move up the hill and to the left as the patrol passes. They can be right up next to you, and with careful positioning and cover, they’ll still walk right by.
With the patrol behind you, move ahead and to the right, past the ruined stone buildings. Keep progressing past the crumbling stone walls, Price will catch up with you and Gaz will have a couple of dialogue choices to make with Laswell. Pick whichever choice you prefer to gain some brief insight into the characters.

Modern Warfare 2: Recon By Fire – Long-Range Lethality
You’ll soon reach a ridge with lines of sight into the compound. Go prone and zoom in to get the lay of the land.
Begin picking off your targets, starting with the single guard at the furthest right of the compound, slowly moving in as the guards fall. Price will call out the amount you need to adjust your shots for movement and bullet drop. Go for single targets wherever possible, and Price will help you take out groups.
Most guards will be possible to take out from a spot near Price, but occasionally you’ll need to adjust position to kill two with a single bullet. Move around as needed to line them up and take the shot when you’re confident.
With all the guards dispatched, Price will send Gaz in to check out the compound. As you get closer, vehicle patrols will appear. Go low once again and continue your approach slowly.
At the compound, head through the gate and to one of the main building doors. Equip C4 to breach, switch to the M4 and move inside.
Take out the guards inside with explosives and the M4 to clear the warehouse. Search the container, then equip the heartbeat monitor and get ready to meet the advancing patrols. This will be Modern Warfare 2: Recon By Fire’s toughest combat challenge.
Move ahead to the next building and enter as you see fit. Price gives you a number of alternative entry options, from breaching to tear gas. After clearing out the warehouse, you’ll find schematics detailing tunnels under the lighthouse.
There’s Always A Lighthouse
Leave the warehouse and group up with Price, proceeding on until you’re overlooking the lighthouse. Once more, scope out the building and get ready to pick off the guards with your Victus XMR sniper. Guards at the lighthouse are at different elevations compared to the hatchery. You’ll know they’re all dead when Price tells you as such.
If you’ve cleared out all the guards successfully by this point, you’ll unlock the Nobody Was There achievement for never raising the alarm.
Move stealthily forward past an AQ patrol to reach the lighthouse. Break through a skylight in the building and use explosives to clear out some of the troops inside. Drop down and clear out the remaining guards, picking up a Kastov-74u to help deal close-range damage.
Clear both buildings to find crates with links to the Russians. Price will group up with you. The tunnel entrance you’re looking for is behind a washing machine in the second building.
Descend into the tunnel and follow Price. Stealth is out of the question down here, engage the enemy as soon as they appear.
At the submarine dock, you’ll hear AQ taking Laswell hostage. Leave the cave and Recon By Fire will be complete in Modern Warfare 2.
