Searching for the best Kastov-74u loadout? We have just what you need. The Kastov-74u is easily one of the best early-game weapons in Modern Warfare 2. In fact, it was so powerful that it has been slightly nerfed in the game.

However, that doesn’t take away the fact that the Kastov-74u is a remarkable weapon. Before we dive into the weapon’s loadout, the official Modern Warfrare 3 reveal is just around the corner but you can find out all you need to know in our Modern Warfare 3 release date, leaks, and news guide.

Best Kastov-74u perks and equipment in MW2

  • Base Perk 1: Bomb Squad
  • Base Perk 2: Double Time
  • Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
  • Ultimate Perk: Quick Fix
  • Tactical: Flash Grenade
  • Lethal: Semtex

The Kastov-74u excels as a run-and-gun Assault Rifle, and we’ve chosen the perfect Perks to enhance the loadout. For Base Perks, we suggest Bomb Squad and Double Time to survive explosives and increase your mobility.

Fast Hands comes in handy to easily reload during heated moments. And since close-quarters combat often exposes you to damage, Quick Fix provides instant health recovery after every elimination.

For the best equipment, Flash Grenades are excellent for temporarily blinding enemies for swift eliminations. And lastly, a Semtex can effectively clear out an entire room in seconds.

Lockwood MK2 Marksman Rifle

The Lockwood MK2 excels in the few areas where the Kastov lacks, delivering powerful, accurate single shots at mid-long range. The Lockwood allows you to remain a threat at ranges where the Kastov-74u’s accuracy and damage fall off dramatically.

While its clip size and reserve are somewhat lacking, this weakness is significantly mitigated by using the Lockwood as an effective subweapon rather than your main piece of kit.

X12 Handgun

If you don’t want to use up one of your basic perk slots on Overkill, you can’t go wrong with the X12 as a subweapon. While the X13 Auto Handgun comes with a higher rate of fire, it’s eclipsed in almost all areas by the Kastov itself, providing little to benefit the loadout in Modern Warfare 2.

The X12 won’t hold up against most primary weapons, but it can cover for the Kastov where it counts, with accurate shots to finish off wounded foes, or offering more accurate options in long-range engagements where getting closer isn’t a practical choice.

With Season 5 underway, you might need a companion to survive all the craziness. So be sure to check out how to get the dog in Modern Warfare 2.
