How to use slang terms in Marvel Rivals
You can use slang terms using the text chat feature in Marvel Rivals. All you need to do to access is to press the Enter key and type in your preferred words in the chat. Once you do so, you can also switch channels between Team Chat and Match Chat by pressing the Tab key. Press the Enter key again to send a message to the preferred chat channel.

Basic Marvel Rivals slang terms for beginners
1) DPS – DPS stands for Damage Per Second. These are the heroes in Marvel Rivals with lowest health by high damage-dealing capabilities and often play across the frontlines and the backlines in the game. Often times players like to choose the best DPS heroes, also known as Duelists to win matches. Examples of DPS heroes include Black Panther, Wolverine, Winter Soldier, Hela, and more.
2) Tank – Tank are heroes boasting high health and often times act as the frontline for a Marve Rivals team. These are more buffy characters than DPS and are known as Vanguards in the game. 3) Healers – Healers are your backline heroes who constantly focus on healing and strategic positioning in the match. This is why they are also known as Strategists in the game. 4) GGWP – Stands for Good Game Well Played. Often used by teammates after a good match.
5) NC1 – Stands for Nice One after a good game played with the team.
6) AFK – Stands for Away From Keyboard and is used when a player is idle in the game.
7) MVP – Most Valuable Player. Used for the best player in a team or an overall match.
8) SVP – Second Valuable Player. Used for the second-best player in a team or an overall match.
9) EZ – Means Easy when you want to roast the other team in text chat after a win.
10) Comms – Stands for communication.

Combat and Strategy slang terms used by pros
1) Throwing – Used for a bad player when they are intentionally making your team lose the match during an endgame or despite your winning progress. Example: They are “throwing” your team to lose.
2) Comp – Used for two different situations. First, it is used for Composition when talking about Team Compositions. Second, it is used for Competitive mode in Rivals. Example: What team comp are we running with? Or, Shall we play a couple of comp games?
3) Flank – Used when you’re talking with your team to sneak onto your enemy from the sidelines or behind them or if you’re warning them about the enemies employing such a strategy. Example: Spidey, flank them from right, or Psylocke is flanking us from left.
4) CC – Used for Crowd Control for heroes who use abilities that can stunlock enemies or disrupt their abilities during gameplay. Example: Use Mantis’ CC to put the enemy to sleep or Use Strange’s Eye of Agamotto to disable enemies.
5) Ult – Stands for Ultimate Ability when you’re referring to using the Ultimate for a hero on your team or when you use it. Example: My ult is charged. Using in 5 secs. Or, Star-Lord, use your ult.
6) Dive – This means diving which is basically rushing enemies head-on to eliminate a target who is dominating or providing support to your enemies. Example: Use Iron Fist to dive on the enemy team or Use Venom to dive in and take out the sniper.
7) Peel – Helping a teammate who is being targeted by the enemy team by distracting them. This is used if the enemies are targeting your healers. Example: Peeling near Jeff. Hulking out!
8) Poke – Using long-range attacks to drain enemy health without being spotted. Mainly used by snipers. Example: Dealing poke damage near the convoy as Hawkeye.
9) Meta – Meta stands for Most Effective Tactics Available and is often used for the most powerful strategies a player can use in the game in the current update or version. Example: Using a 3 support combo is a new meta.
10) One-shot – Used when an enemy has really low health and can easily be eliminated in a single strike or blow. Example: Their Iron Man is one shot.
11) Hitbox – Hitboxes are invisible areas around a figure where a shot or damage gets registered in the game. Some characters like Hulk have large hitboxes, whereas smaller heroes like Rocket Raccoon have smaller hitboxes. Example: Jeff is easily getting away from my shots with his small hitbox.
12) Cooldown (CD) – Used when any of your ability is in cooldown mode and you have to wait a while before you can use it again. Example: My spider-webs are in cooldown. Cover me.
13) Hitscan – A gameplay mechanic when a shot is registered as soon as the fire button is clicked. Some Marvel Rivals heroes have this mechanic in their weapons for instance Star-Lord and Punisher. Example: Use a hitscan hero in this match.
14) Chokepoint – Narrow areas where a team or enemies can get stuck in a group and are vulnerable to area-of-effect damage attacks. Example: This map features a chokepoint. Best to make the most of it.
15) Snowballing – When a team gains early game advantage and continues to dominate throughout a match in Rivals. Example: Enemies are snowballing the area hard.
16) Elo – These are used when you talk about rank points in the game. Basically, Elo is the number of points you currently have in your competitive rank. Example: I got 50 Elo and y’all are selling them by bad plays.
