Working together is essential to achieve victory in Marvel Rivals as teamwork and strategic coordination play a bigger role than individual heroism. Players must combine the powers of several Marvel heroes and villains in each match, with the correct team composition having a huge impact on the final score. The game excels at rewarding players who learn to work together, whether it’s allying Hulk and Iron Man for a deadly combo or using Luna Snow’s healing abilities with Iron Fist’s fighting skills. However, while progressing through the competitive levels, from Bronze to One Above All, players must carefully choose which heroes to team up with and how to compensate for their limitations if they want to dominate the battlefield. To help you decide, here are the 9 best team comps to try in Marvel Rivals Season 1.
1 – The Avengers
A throwback to the OG MCU-era where the Avengers, a team comp that has no healer at all, dominated over Loki, a Strategist in New York.
Recommended Heroes
- Thor (Vanguard)
- Hulk (Vanguard)
- Captain America (Vanguard)
- Hawkeye (Duelist)
- Iron Man (Duelist)
- Black Widow (Duelist)
Active Team-Up abilities
- Voltaic Union – Thor infuses Thorforce into Captain America, granting him an electrifying enhancement. Captain America gains a Movement Boost, and his shield is imbued with thunder power, electrocuting nearby enemies.
- Gamma Charge – Hulk charges Iron Man with gamma radiation. When Iron Man uses Armor Overdrive, he will initiate a gamma upgrade.
- Allied Agents – Hawkeye can share his Hunter’s Sight with Black Widow, enabling her to catch sight of and damage afterimages of enemies.
Recommended Playstyle
Use Hulk to dive in alongside Thor to push back enemy lines and absorb as much damage to make way for Iron Man to launch his missiles while hovering. Then from the backline, play as Hawkeye and Black Widow to launch long-range attacks on enemies and protect any incoming shots targeting your ranged duelists with Cap’s shield. With three active Team-Up abilities, you can easily pair up two heroes and make the best of your Avengers, even without a healer. Just make sure to stay close to healing beacons so you’re not dying constantly. Take turns, coordinate, and assemble together.

2 – New York team-up
When New York is in danger, its local Marvel heroes swing to the rescue. Whether it’s Doctor Strange opening a portal from Sanctum Sanctorum or Spider-Man swinging in from Queens, this is a formidable team comp.
Recommended Heroes
- Doctor Strange (Vanguard)
- Captain America (Vanguard)
- Iron Man (Duelist)
- Spider-Man (Duelist)
- Invisible Woman (Strategist)
- Cloak & Dagger (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
No active abilities in this team comp.
Recommended Playstyle
While there are no active Team-Up abilities in this composition, it’s a balanced hero loadout with two characters from each class. As Doctor Strange, open portals to allow your two duelists, Iron Man and Spider-Man, to fly through to trick enemies. On the other hand, use Captain America to guide your healers, Invisible Woman and Cloak & Dagger, into the battlefield. Since both your tanks have shields, you can easily block incoming damage and even use their ults to give your team a boost.
3 – All Dive
Sometimes when ranged heroes don’t do the job, it’s best to dive into the battlefield head-on and eliminate Rivals using up close and personal brute force. Check out the best Dive team comp in Marvel Rivals.
Recommended Heroes
- Venom (Vanguard)
- Hulk (Vanguard)
- Spider-Man (Duelist)
- Iron Fist (Duelist)
- Wolverine (Duelist)
- Jeff The Land Shark (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
- Symbiote Bond – Venom shares a part of his symbiote with Spider-Man, activating his symbiote abilities. Spider-Man can convert the symbiote into explosive spikes that inflict harm on nearby enemies and relentlessly drive them back.
- Fastball Special – Wolverine and Hulk can interact with each other. Once both parties confirm, Hulk can lift Wolverine and press the key to hurl him forward.
Recommended Playstyle
This composition focuses purely on getting closer to the enemy team and dealing as much melee damage as you can. Play as a pure tank with Venom and Hulk then activate your bonus shields while your duelists like Iron Fist can close in for a swift blow. As Hulk, hurl Wolverine at flying enemies to damage them or bring them down. As Spider-Man, stay on the move and activate your Symbiote Bond ability to push back any enemies that get too close. Finally, as Jeff, keep spitting bubbles and heal your tanks on the front line.
4 – Bullet Time
This one is for Overwatch fans who like to use guns rather than magical superpowers.
Recommended Heroes
- Peni Parker (Vanguard)
- Magneto (Vanguard)
- Punisher (Duelist)
- Winter Soldier (Duelist)
- Black Widow (Duelist)
- Rocket Raccoon (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
- Ammo Overload – Rocket Raccoon throws an Ammo Overload Device in the target direction. Upon entering the device’s range, The Punisher and the Winter Soldier receive the buffs of Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing.
Recommended Playstyle
This team composition solely tests your gun skills in Marvel Rivals as all heroes mainly use hitscan weapons. Lay mines and a Spider-Nest as Peni around your team and block incoming damage as Magneto. Keep Widow on the backline to deal ranged sniper damage and one-shot enemies out of the battlefield. Finally as Rocket, put down the Ammo Overload device near Punisher and Winter Soldier so that they can keep firing their guns endlessly and deal massive damage to enemy heroes. This is one of the most overpowered team-up abilities in Marvel Rivals and can help you conquer the battlefield if used carefully.
5 – Asgardians of the Galaxy
Asgardians of the Galaxy are here to save the day. As the name implies, this team comp is inspired by the Guardians in Marvel Rivals.
Recommended Heroes
- Groot (Vanguard)
- Thor (Vanguard)
- Star-Lord (Duelist)
- Rocket Raccoon (Strategist)
- Mantis (Strategist)
- Adam Warlock (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
- Planet X Pals – Rocket Racoon can ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving Damage Reduction.
- Guardian Revival – Adam Warlock enhances the rebirth power of Star-Lord and Mantis, granting them the power of cocooned revival.
Recommended Playstyle
As Thor, keep throwing thunderbolts at enemies and hurl your Mjolnir at close range. Meaniwhile, Groot carries Rocket on his shoulders and builds walls to block enemy paths and protect your team from incoming damage. Use Star-Lord to soar into the sky and fire element guns to deal damage to enemies while Mantis and Adam Warlock heal. By using the Guardian Revival team-up ability, Star-Lord and Mantis can revive themselves without having to worry about rushing to the spawn area.
6 – Mutants Rise
Magneto’s mutants are here to dominate the battlefield.
Recommended Heroes
- Magneto (Vanguard)
- Storm (Duelist)
- Wolverine (Duelist)
- Magik (Duelist)
- Psylocke (Duelist)
- Luna Snow (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
- Dimensional Shortcut – When Magik is on the field, Psylocke can tap into Limbo to rewind a few seconds back to a previous position; after passing through Limbo, Psylocke will gain Bonus Health based on missing health.
Recommended Playstyle
With four mutant duelists, you know your team is going to deal a lot of damage. As Magneto, absorb as much damage on the front line as you can and shield your duelists from any incoming projectiles. As Wolverine and Magik, play close to enemies and deal damage with heavy strikes. As Storm, boost your team’s damage and pace while throwing wind blades from the sky, while Psylocke rushes through enemies and keeps dashing across the map, using the Dimensional Shortcut ability. Finally, as Luna, keep healing your on-the-ground teammates and use your ultimate as a healing boost while they dish out damage.
7 – Masters of Mystic Arts
This team comp consists of darker and more mysterious Marvel heroes who use their special skills to disrupt enemies out on the battlefield.
Recommended Heroes
- Doctor Strange (Vanguard)
- Scarlet Witch (Duelist)
- Moon Knight (Duelist)
- Black Panther (Duelist)
- Cloak & Dagger (Strategist)
- Loki (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
- Lunar Force – Cloak & Dagger can inject light and dark energy into Moon Knight to create a Light & Dark Realm where Moon Knight can become invisible.
Recommended Playstyle
This team comp is probably the most balanced out of the pack since it focuses on dealing an equal amount of close and long-range damage. As Doctor Strange, open portals for Moon Knight to place his Ankhs near the enemy team so he can deal significant AoE damage and disappear using Lunar Force. As Scarlet Witch, place Dark Seal force field and at the same time, use Cloak to create similar disruption around the enemy team while you dish out damage and heal allies with Dagger. While the action is ongoing, Loki needs to create clones and trick enemies while stealing their abilities and using their ults to win it for your team.
8 – Ranged Heroes
If you like to play from long range and aim at enemies to deal big damage, this ranged heroes team comp is just the ticket.
Recommended Heroes
- Magneto (Vanguard)
- Hawkeye (Duelist)
- Hela (Duelist)
- Squirrel Girl (Duelist)
- Mantis (Strategist)
- Luna Snow (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
No active abilities in this team comp.
Recommended Playstyle
Ranged heroes are underrated in Marvel Rivals and this team requires you to use them in the best way possible. As Magneto blocks any incoming projectiles, Hela and Squirrel Girl damage enemies at mid-range from different positions. As Hawkeye, stay as far as you can from the action and aim at the enemy’s head to eliminate them in a single shot. At the same time, use Mantis and Luna to damage enemies and heal allies by continuously rotating back and forth between healing duelists and your tank.
9 – Reed’s Science Team
This is a team made up of the science geniuses from the Marvel universe.
Recommended Heroes
- Hulk (Vanguard)
- Peni Parker (Vanguard)
- Iron Man (Duelist)
- Spider-Man (Duelist)
- Mister Fantastic (Duelist)
- Invisible Woman (Strategist)
Active Team-Up ability
- Gamma Charge – Hulk charges Iron Man with gamma radiation. When Iron Man uses Armor Overdrive, he will initiate a gamma upgrade.
- Fantastic Four – The Invisible Woman taps into her powers, channeling Psionic Might to fortify the entire Fantastic Four team. This formidable force bolsters Mister Fantastic, granting damage resistance. Once activated, they can continually generate Bonus Health, making up for lost Health with each passing moment.
Recommended Playstyle
This team comp technically has three Vanguards, including Mister Fantastic who dives into the battlefield along with Hulk. Meanwhile, Peni places her deadly mines and Spider-Nest to keep enemy divers at bay. At the same time, create a Psionic Vortex shield with Invisible Woman to damage duelists who close in on your tanks. As Spider-Man, and Iron Man, stay on the move and damage enemies. As soon as you’re low on health, fly back to safety for a quick heal, then head back into battle and dish out even more damage.
