The bulk of the characters in Marvel Rivals are Duelists, which are the game’s DPS heroes. Figuring out the best ones is not easy due to how many of them there are in this class. Duelist characters are tasked with dealing damage and racking up kills and, in theory, they should deal the most damage during a match. However, with so many characters, it’s hard to pinpoint the best options.

They vary from long-range shooters to up-close-and-personal melee users, with certain Duelists being much more complicated to use. Still, once you figure them out, you’ll be racking up eliminations for fun.  Whether you’re looking to grind XP or have some fun with pals, a balanced squad needs at least two Duelists, so keep reading to find out the best options for you going forward.

Best Duelist in Marvel Rivals – Hawkeye

It’s tricky to pin down the best Duelist, but a few stand out above the rest, with Hawkeye topping the table. It’s slightly amusing that the arguably weakest Avenger, who’s just a bloke with a bow, is so good in Marvel Rivals, but his kit lends itself to success and charging his bow melts opponents’ health.

He also boasts a double jump for extra mobility, and on maps where you get nice long channels to hang back in, you can deal devastating damage from afar so long as you’re accurate. His Ultimate ability is also one of the best on offer, enabling a faster fire-rate and letting you shoot shadows players leave behind, offering you a free hit even against the most mobile characters.

Although Hawkeye is arguably the best DPS character to use right now, there are quite a few options for players, so we’ve put some honourable mentions in the table below:

Best DuelistsDescription
Iron Fist Iron Fist is the game’s surprise package, and if you’re up against one, you’ll know how much of a pain they can be. They’re tricky to master, but thanks to exceptional mobility and damage output, tracking them down is tedious. If he gets you 1v1, it may as well be over.
The Punisher The Punisher is one of the more straightforward characters to use, yet that doesn’t mean he’s not effective. His turret feels stronger than some characters’ Ultimate Move and he has decent escape options, although he’ll struggle against mobile melee characters like Iron Fist.
Winter Soldier Once you figure out how to use Winter Soldier, he’s not only a damage machine but also a lot of fun. He drags enemies towards him and finishes them with ease. Due to only having three bullets in his gun, his kit takes some time to get used to, but once you figure him out, you’ll see that he’s fantastic. You can use his Ultimate repeatedly, which helps him stand out if implemented appropriately.
Star-Lord Star-Lord needs to be up close to be effective, but he isn’t a melee character, so judging the distance with him is tricky. However, once you get into a rhythm and focus on headshots, you’ll be an asset to any team.
Scarlet Witch Scarlet Witch is another option where you need to get your range right, but once you do, you won’t need to worry about aiming as she locks on when dealing damage. What makes her stand out is her Ultimate, which can quickly wipe out whole teams but takes some time to execute.
