Soon we will be able to return to the glory days of the Star Wars Battlefront series from 2004/05. These two epics are considered some of the best multiplayer games of all time let alone games set in a galaxy far, far away. Naturally, people are asking if the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is crossplay, and here you will find an explanation of the cross-platform multiplayer status.

The release date and time countdown for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is set for March 14th. It seems likely we will not get a third modern installment from Electronic Arts as EA described the possibility of Battlefront 3 as uncertain. So, with no new game on the horizon, it’s good news for fans that we can return to what many consider by far the best installments.

Aspyr has included all of the original features along with bonus content for BF1 and BF2. The only disappointment is the lack of crossplay for consoles and PC.

Is Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection crossplay?

It’s confirmed that there is no crossplay for the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. This means that PlayStation cannot compete against Xbox and vice versa, and consoles cannot compete against or with players on PC.

A lack of crossplay was confirmed by a Redditor who shared a response from Aspyr support confirming there is no cross platform multiplayer. This has resulted in disappointment from the community especially as the game touts 64-person matches.

The good news is that, although there isn’t crossplay or cross-platform multiplayer, there is cross-gen gameplay. This means PS4 can compete against PS5 and Xbox One against Series X/S. This should hopefully result in healthy playercounts regardless of your platform.

Although it is primarily an online multiplayer experience, there is also the option of playing offline against bots. As a youngling back in the day who avoided the terror of Order 66, playing against bots offline delivered endless hours of fun, so it is a viable option for players.

Of course, if you are on PlayStation, you will need a PS Plus membership to play the game. As for Xbox, you will need an Xbox Game Pass core membership.

For more Star Wars, the upcoming new Star Wars Outlaws game will let you work for Jabbah, and Star Wars Outlaws will feature a Wanted system like Grand Theft Auto.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
