In the foreman’s office above the Excavation Site in Vatican City, you’ll come across a locked safe. Though the room is littered with all kinds of bits and bobs, there’s nothing that takes the shape of a clue for the safe code. Even venturing further afield into the Excavation Site and tussling with the Blackshirts guarding the area won’t lead to anything.
All this makes the Excavation Site safe code a challenging puzzle, that is until you know where to look. It’s tied to a mystery called Signs of Trouble. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get the Excavation Site safe code in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Where to get the Excavation Site safe code in Indiana Jones
The code to unlock the Excavation Site safe is 1891. To get the code, you’ll need to have completed the Nun in Trouble Fieldwork. Once that’s done, head to the Sistine Chapel and on the altar at the end of the chapel you’ll find a note from Gina wedged into a book. You should see a marker on your map if you select mystery in Indy’s journal. Picking up the note starts the Signs of Trouble mystery.
The document is called Gina’s request and explains that the Blackshirts have caught wind of her. She’s gone into hiding and a contact has hidden vital information in a safe in the foreman’s office at the dig site. The note is signed G and underneath are the numbers 1891 – the code to unlock the safe.

The safe contains the Contact’s Message document that you’ll need to take back to the Sistine Chapel. Captured by VideoGamer
Head back to the Excavation Site office and dial 1891 into the safe to open it. Inside, you’ll find 80 Lira and the Contact’s Message, which offers some slim, but helpful details about the whereabouts of Gina’s sister, Laura Lombardi. Make your way back over to the Sistine Chapel and deposit the message in the same book on the altar at the back. Doing this will wrap up the Signs of Trouble Mystery.
