After saving Guiliana in the Borgia Tower as part of the Nun in Trouble Fieldwork, you’ll unlock the Father and Son Mystery. Following the quest marker, you’ll come across a path leading to the Borgia Courtyards and a small room home to a cat, a dog, and, more interestingly, a locked safe.
The room houses several documents with cryptic clues around how to get access to the contents of the safe, but it’s a tricky puzzle that requires some deciphering. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get the Father and Son safe code in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Where to find the Father and Son safe code in Indiana Jones
The code to open the Father and Son safe is 5873. To figure out the code, you’ll need to loot the desk drawers in the room to get the Italian Poem and Polybius Square Diagram. Look at the Italian Poem and you’ll see that some of the letters have been highlighted with red circles. These are i-r-i-a-t-a-s-o. The last highlighted letter looks a little like an a, which can cause confusion, but it’s an o.
Open up the Polybius Square Diagram and you’ll see a table with letters on the left and at the top. From here, group the letters from the poem into groups of two – ir, ia, ta, so – then refer to the diagram to figure out what number they refer to – i from the top row then r from the left column = 5. And so on, as follows:
- ir – 5
- ia – 8
- ta – 7
- so – 3
Head over to the safe and move the four dials so that they show 5873. This will open the safe, which contains the Siwa Photograph, the Junior Report, the Senior Report, and the Office Photograph documents. It appears the Vatican has been tailing and surveilling Indy since he first arrived in the city, going so far as to spy on his father. Looting all these documents will wrap up the Father and Son Mystery, earning you 100 Adventure Points and the When in Rome achievement (if you’ve completed the other mysteries in the city).
