More or less as soon as you land in Rome to hunt for the Vatican thief, you’ll come across blocked gates and doors marked with Attenzione signs and a discouraging message that you need a Blackshirt key to get through. While you’ll come across many a Blackshirt goon throughout the Vatican, the elusive key is hard to come by. But, once you have it, you’ll get access to plenty of secrets along with the Underground Boxing Ring.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get the Blackshirt key in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Before you can get the key, you’ll need to have completed The Tower of Nicholas V and Undercity of The Stolen Cat Mummy adventure and their puzzles.
Where to get the Blackshirt key in Indiana Jones
To get the Blackshirt key, you’ll need to visit a hidden courtyard between the Excavation Site and the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. To do this, press on with the story until you meet up with Antonio in Castel Sant’Angelo and are let loose into the Vatican. You’ll then need to complete The Tower of Nicholas V and Undercity of The Stolen Cat Mummy adventure before the path to the courtyard is unlocked.

Starting from the large plaza with the massive, red Mussolini propaganda poster, known as the Belvedere Courtyard, head forward and take a right at the military trucks. Go through the large wooden door ahead into the Vatican Gardens. Take a left and run down the alley past the boxing ring until you enter the Borgia Courtyards. Go past the fountain on your right and take a left through the archway next to the military truck.

Deal with the Blackshirts then grab the key and uniform from the stool by the tent. Captured by VideoGamer
Press on forward through the small courtyard and into the short covered arched alley, taking a right up the stairs. Go through the first door on your left (this will be locked if you haven’t explored the Undercity yet) and follow the stairs all the way to the roof. Squeeze through the gap in the fence at the back and drop down into the courtyard below.
Deal with the three enemies then grab the Blackshirt Key and Blackshirt Uniform disguise from the stool at the entrance to the tent. You can now go to the Underground Boxing Ring door in the Vatican Gardens and get through the door to take part in several bouts of boxing to earn Lira.
