- Operations are another coop feature in Space Marine 2.
- Missions in Operation mode unlock as you progress the campaign.
- Operations give you side story info and give you access to the class system with rewards available to unlock.
Operations is a game mode in Space Marine 2, offering players the ability to see a different perspective on the planets and missions they have been to in the campaign. These Operations also give you a taste of how the multiplayer class system works, along with weapon level up, and other rewards. However, you need to unlock Operations to get the other missions. Here’s a look at how Operations work in Space Marine 2.
Unlocking Operations in Space Marine 2
If you plan on playing coop Operations with your crew, then you need to be aware it is not available straight away unless you search via quick match. We don’t advise doing this, as it can lead to story spoilers for those still progressing through the campaign.
Instead, you need to play through the campaign missions. At various stages, you will unlock Operations part way through missions. You can expect to unlock the Operation missions as follows:
Operation | Unlock Requirement |
Inferno | Reach campaign mission 2, Severance |
Decapitation | Finish Servant of the Machine, the fourth campaign mission. |
Vox Liberatis | Finish Servant of the Machine, the fourth campaign mission. |
Reliquary | Unlocks halfway through mission 6, Dawn’s Descent. |
Fall of Atreus | Unlocks halfway through mission 6, Dawn’s Descent. |
Ballistic Engine | Complete mission 2 and unlock the operations mode. (No associated side quest with it, but unlocks alongside Inferno.) |
In addition, some Operations are due to be released as part of the post-launch support. These will launch with each season launch. We presume these will be available to all players as and when they drop. But, you’d need to check if these missions will have any prerequisites to play them before the season launches.
When you get to play an Operation, be aware that there are difficulty options. You’ll also be grinding these for various class levelling or weapon levelling goals you may have in a PvE setting. Levelling up your favourite class and guns will allow you to take on harder difficulties in operations, especially when they add more difficulties to Operations as part of the post-launch content updates.
This about concludes everything you need to know about Space Marine 2’s Operation mode and what to expect.
