A big part of Black Myth Wukong’s combat it tapping into the selection of skills you unlock and use. Spells are often the decider between dying to difficult enemies or coming out on top. However, casting spells cost mana, a limited resource that’s hard to come by. Here are all the ways to get mana in Black Myth Wukong, especially you intend on running a spell-focused build.
There are several ways to get mana in Black Myth Wukong:
- Craft and loot Celestial Medicines
- Unlock the Spiritual Awakening skill
- Use the Gore Eye Daoist Spirit
- Mana-boosting gear and equipment
Celestial Medicines
Celestial Medicines are found in chests throughout the world but you can also craft them using Mind Cores. As you explore, you’ll find small chests shaped in like a small octagon. They are often on small shrines with incense burning next to them. Opening them up awards either a permanent stamina, health, or mana upgrade. The ones that grant mana are called Celestial Taiyi Pills and you’ll find at least one in each of the story chapters. Here are two locations where you can find them early on:
Location | Description |
---|---|
Black Wind Mountain | Found in a chest by a ledge in the wooden pagoda after beating White Noble in the White Mist area. Go down the large wooden pathway towards the pagoda structure to find the hcest. |
Yellow Wind Ridge | Obtained from a chest inside the Fright Cliffs Crash Wayshrine town. It’s in the chest to the right near Rat Wizard elite enemy. |
During Chapter 2, you can unlock Celestial Medicine crafting by completing Xu Dog’s quest line. Speak to Xu Dog in the cavern underneath the village. From there, you need to defeat the yellow frog boss in the stone pond then return to Xu Dog to get the recipe. He’ll then disappear and you can find him again at the end of the Chapter when you get the Sterness of Strone and Keeness of Tiger. Access the Crouching Tiger Temple’s inner sanctum, then find a Wayshrine below the temple as you exit. To the right is Xu Dog near the brazier. Speak to him again, and you’ll unlock Celestial Crafting.
When Celestial Medicines crafting is unlocked, you can spend two mind cores to upgrade your mana. You will cap out of upgrades on mana after seven upgrades. You’ll get Mind Cores naturally by defeating bosses. You can also get them from elites, chests, or by completing chapters. You can also buy them from Vendors later on in the story.
Spiritual Awakening skill
Another method of getting mana in Black Myth Wukong is by unlocking specific Spirits and skills. As you level up, you will get skill points that you can spend on the Spiritual Awakening skill, which increases your maximum mana, up to a cap of five times.
Gore Eye Daoist skill
If you still need mana, then consider changing your Spirit. Spirits like the Gore Eye Daoist have a passive that increases your maximum mana. When activated, it also umleashes a magical attack that enhances stave attacks over time. You can find this spirit by defeating the mini-boss in the Yellow Wind Valley area at the end of chapter 2. Open the metal door from the Valley of Despair when you have the Sterness of Stone and Keenness of Tiger. Go down the path, cross the bridge, and continue forward to find the mini-boss.
Gear and equipment
Another way getting mana is through equipping certain pieces of gear. One of the sets you unlock by completing the secret level in Chapter 2 has a special perk on the boots. The Galeguard Greaves give grant mana restoration when you perform three consecutive perfect dodges.
