How to sell gear in Hogwarts Legacy

You can sell gear in Hogwarts Legacy at vendors in Hogsmeade and in the wider Highlands region. These include shops as Madam Snelling’s Tress Emporium, Tomes and Scrolls, Gladrags Wizardwear, and wandering merchants like Leopold Bapcocke. Several of the small hamlets also have their own vendors that will happily by your surplus accessories and gear.

The ability to sell items becomes available after visiting Hogsmeade for the first time to get a wand in the opening hours of the game after completing the Charms and Defence Against The Dark Arts class. Though vendors specialise in certain products such as potions or beasts, you can sell gear at any vendor. Approach a vendor, cycle through to your inventory and the sell tab, then select the gear you want to sell.

Prices are consistent across all vendors in Hogwarts Legacy and are determined by a piece of gear’s rarity. Here’s how it breaks down:

  • Green gear – 60 Galleons
  • Blue gear – 90 Galleons
  • Purple gear – 150 Galleons
  • Gold gear -200 Galleons

Here’s a list of all the Hogsmeade vendors in Hogwarts Legacy:

  • Ollivanders
  • Gladrags Wizardwear
  • Spintwitches Sporting Needs
  • J. Pippin’s Potions
  • Brood and Peck
  • Madam Snelling’s Tress Emporium
  • Tomes and Scrolls
  • The Magic Neep
  • Dogweed and Deathcap
✓ Tip

Use the transmog system to customise your wizard or witches appearance

With only a limited number of available gear slots at the beginning of Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll want to periodically sell off gear that’s below your current level or has poor stats. Hogwarts Legacy features a robust transmog system, which allows you to keep the stats of certain outfits or gear while using the visual appearance of another for a wealth of customization options. Even when you sell a piece of gear, you’ll keep the appearance option although the outfit or robe is long gone.
