Simply hold down L1 on your controller to bring up the item wheel and use the right analog stick to highlight the potion that you want to use. Once it’s highlighted, release L1 and then press L1 again to use it immediately.

If you’re on PC, you’ll need to hold down the Tab key instead while using your mouse to select the potion you’d like to use. Once you’ve chosen a particular potion, release Tab and then simply press it again to use it.

Keep in mind, though, that using Wiggenweld Potions requires you to hit a completely different button for both systems. For consoles, you’ll have to tap the down button on the D-pad to restore health. PC users, on the other hand, will need to press the G key on their keyboard.

All Potions and their effects in Hogwarts Legacy

There are a total of seven potions you can use throughout your adventure in Hogwarts Legacy. Though most serve basic purposes such as the HP-restoring Wiggenweld Potion, others have unique effects that help you gain an edge in combat.

Here are all of the potions that can be found within the game:

  • Wiggenweld Potion – restores a certain amount of health once ingested. This is the first concoction that players acquire in the game.
  • Thunderbrew – creates a storm around you that stuns and deals damage to nearby enemies
  • Focus Potion – reduces spell cooldown
  • Maxima Potion – increases spell damage for a limited amount of time
  • Edurus Potion – enhances your defense by covering you with a durable rocky skin
  • Invisibility Potion – turns the drinker invisible for a certain amount of time
  • Felix Felicis – reveals gear chests on the mini-map for one whole day. Unfortunately, this concoction is only available for PlayStation users that pre-ordered the game.
